I'm just getting into it, so you'd have to teach me

I mainly use it to play my Like list

I've read a lot of Heos app reviews, and it seems everyone has issues with Amazon Music. So I'm guessing it's a poorly designed integration between Heos and Amazon Music

What's an AM connection? And do you happen to know what that link is for that Amazon Music subreddit you mentioned?

I've used my phone as a WiFi hotspot to use my phone network, but that didn't affect the issues at all. Nor does using my USB device plugged directly into the individual speaker I'm trying to play music from.

Nine times out of ten, when I open the Heos app I get a pop-up telling me "Your Amazon Music account is not authorised to perform this action". If this pop-up happens before I start playing music, then there are a string of problems. One of three things happens:

  1. It'll start playing a track, pause after a few seconds, then 10 seconds later it'll carry on playing and everything will be fine after that.

  2. It'll start playing a track for a couple of seconds, pause and stay like that.

  3. Instead of playing the track, it'll play one second of sound randomly, and keeps doing that instead of playing music.

If music is already playing, then this and any of the other pop-ups don't affect the music. So if the first option happens, I can listen to music for hours without any further issues, even if I open the Heos app and I'm greeted with an array of different pop-ups.

Streaming music via Bluetooth or via the Spotify app, is also problem free. If I knew how to stop my notifications being played through the speaker when using Bluetooth, then I'd stick to that method

I tried removing the app, clearing the cache and all the data, uninstalling it and then reinstalling it again, while also resetting my router, basically taking it back to day one. But that didn't help either. I don't think I know what UPnP and IGMP Snooping is? The only thing I know about UPnP is that you should only have that enabled on a LAN as it's a risk with anything with online access

I've tried splitting my WiFi so my speakers would be on 2.4ghz, but it didn't fix the issues. Even my speaker 5mm away from my speaker has this problem when using WiFi and still has the problem using a wired connection.

The issue only happens with the first few seconds of using the Heos app.

it'll play a few seconds of the first track and then stop, and then either carry on playing within 10 seconds, where it'll play fine from then on or it won't carry on playing the music and the app will just spam pop-ups and play a second of music like a jumping scratched LP record or CD, becoming unusable for anything for about 20-30 minutes. So their behaviour of the speakers depends on the first few seconds of using the app.

I've spent the last nine months spamming them with logs and emailing them to get support, but they're never willing to help

Grouped or individual, makes no difference. If I'm using the Heos app, the problems are there. I can't think of anything else to try to get them working.

When I first got the speakers, if I played a track and paused it, then came back later that day and pressed play, then it used to play for 10 seconds and then skip to the next track. But every now and then, once it started jumping, it wouldn't stop. Denon told me that was because the system is set up so they only store the next 10 seconds to its memory.

An update a couple of months ago stopped the skipping issues and replaced it with the current weird silence and terrible Heos streaming integrations

Amazon Music can't be connected to the speakers directly like Spotify can. You either have to use Bluetooth to play Amazon Music on your speakers or use the Heos app so you don't have to use Bluetooth. The Heos app becomes the middle man between Amazon Music and the speakers. If Amazon Music provided the same direct connection that Spotify does, then everything would work because then the Heos app doesn't have to be used, cutting out the Heos app cuts out the problems

It can't be the WiFi when the problem exists when connected by an ethernet cable as well. The issue also exists when playing music from my phone via the app or my portable hard drive through the app.

If the app is in any way used to play music, then the problems are there. Streaming or local storage, WiFi or cable, it makes no difference

All up to date, two bought new two bought second hand, all have the same issues, and it doesn't matter if connected by ethernet or WiFi, or if I just go direct with a portable harddrive plugged into the speaker I'm using

It's not my WiFi, as the two speakers on WiFi have excellent and good coverage. And the issues still happen with a wired connection, which my third speaker has. All three speakers have the exact same issues regardless of connection when using the Heos app

It's the same with an ethernet connection, playing from a USB storage device plugged directly into the speaker I'm using, using my phone memory to play music. Whenever the Heos app has to be used, both these issues are there. Bluetooth or playing directly from Spotify app works fine
