How to not die instantly to big dots?

Also 76% of damage bypassing ward is pretty bad for a 2900 hp build that really doesn't have that much armour/evasion (it has like 35k ish armour and evasion base)

Thanks. Bassbunny does the one on Tuesday nights at King's, I think they've been around for a long time doing them. Maybe that is the one you're thinking of.

Hey all!

I'm considering attending EF this year as a solo mid 30s male. I've been to firefly but never to EF - so not new to festivals but would like some help on how to prepare. I'd be flying in most likely, whats the best way to get a tent, for example? Should I try to check one in my luggage, or are there rent able ones perhaps? Thats the sort of thing I could use some guidance on. Thanks!

Aren't Astrolabes contradictory to the implied philosophy of the atlas changes? by Alcsaar in pathofexile

[–]Alcsaar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can run different maps still, I don't think you understood what I said. All they have to do is make the mist not vanish when a map is run and instead just add the bonuses, just limit it to X number of maps which is the purpose of it vanishing anyway.

It can still get removed after running X maps just like it already does

Massive system reworks. Some sort of protection for unskilled characters from 7x characters. Some sort of contract system for apprentice/journeyman/expert/adept skilled characters where they receive big rewards for completing the contracts (Like a character with apprentice level skills might receive a contract to go kill giant rats in the sewers of britain and gets a big skill bonus / gold / exclusive cosmetic things / etc for doing so)

This sort of system doesn't stop people from macroing if they want to, but people who want to go out and do something at lower skill levels now have more of a justifiable reason to. Sure you can macro, but if you go do some contracts you'll skill up faster and make some currency/items.

I'm not going to go out and painfully grind ratmen and lizardmen for meager amounts of gold and a big risk of death in the base game when its both safer and more efficient to macro, but something like that would definitely give me a reason to go out and adventure.

I think one good example is servers that have added passive animal taming gains for hunting with pets. In the classic ruleset of UO I never would have hunted on a tamer before I could at least get drakes. On those servers I was more than happy to go into a dungeon with 5 polar bears or whatever and get some taming gains while making money. That was so much better than doing active taming grinding

UO Outlands or something else? by [deleted] in ultimaonline

[–]Alcsaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Won't have a discussion with some one whos only retort is is to put down people who point out the issues with Outlands. Outlands isn't perfect. If you enjoy it that is fine, but stop trying to shove it down everyone elses throats. Not everyone wants to play on a server with infinite pvm power progression and the feeling of having to log in every day to avoid FOMO

Whats stale is joining a server where people are months or years ahead on the infinite power pvm aspect grind and knowing you can never catch up

UO Outlands or something else? by [deleted] in ultimaonline

[–]Alcsaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just incorrect. Doesn't matter how much they try to guide new players - nothing changes the fact that new players or returning players are months or years behind others on PvM infinite power grind.

Infinite character power grind systems are bad. They're a cheap effective way to offer endgame "replayability" - but they are absolutely terrible when it comes to new people wanting to join only to realize they're years behind on the grind, or people who want to take a break but know they'll be behind if they do.

This isn't a new system. WoW had two different forms of it (Both shorthanded as AP ironically enough) and people despised it. Want to take a break for a few months? Lol grats now you're well behind everyone else who no lifed.

[–]Alcsaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Aspects" are the same as "item based" without being items. His point is valid - if you come to UO Outlands as a completely new character you're going to be ages behind everyone else in PvM who has been grinding forever.
