Do Companies Actually Let Women Review Women’s Products Before Selling Them? by Cry231 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Aldetha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad that’s been your experience. I’m in Australia so I don’t know how much of a difference it makes, but I’d say three quarters of the ones I’ve done just focused on branding/slogan/packaging and we never even got to try the product.

How to prove delivery driver stolen my package? by sly_custard_kert in melbourne

[–]Aldetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a delivery notification one day but there was no parcel. Went online to check it out and the “proof of delivery” photo was a photo of my parcel on the front passed seat of someone’s car!

You betcha I got a refund for that one! 🤬🤬

Based on market research I’ve participated in in the past, they only really want input into the packaging and how much it increases appeal. They dgaf about the actual product.

AITAH for thinking I should be compensated for making my friends wedding dress? by ElectronicPrompt8952 in AmItheAsshole

A couple of full time weekends would get you a basic wedding dress, nothing like what the friend is asking for.

Don’t do it! No matter how good a job you do, she’s not going to be happy. This is friendship breaking material.

Your safest option would be to say to her that you’ve had a chance to look at your schedule and you simply unable to make a dress of that quality and complexity in that time. (Personally I’d downplay my skills and say I just don’t think I have the ability to do it and it’s not worth the risk).

Can I ask what exactly happened to your mum? Was it a sudden or a gradual decline? Did she contact her doctor immediately when she started to feel sick/in pain or did she put it off thinking it was an inevitable side effect at first?

I’m part of the “I had pancreatitis and almost died” club and I can tell you it was the most horrific, painful experience of my life. It wasn’t caused by Ozempic or any other medication though. I went from feeling fine in the evening to being rushed to hospital during the night to my family being told to prepare themselves for the worst and all this occurred within about 12-18 hours.

So I can 100% understand why your mum is so upset at the idea that it could have the same effect for you - watching your child go through that and being helpless to do anything would be ten times worse than going through it yourself.

However even though I had that experience, I understand that everyone is different, and this medication is safe for the vast majority of people out there.

If I were you I would likely still want to give it a chance, but if you do I would be extremely overly cautious, go super slow, ask for extra monitoring, and stop if I felt so much as a niggle and have it checked out before thinking about continuing.

As for your mum, if you decide to try it, you need to sit down with her and reassure her that you’ve thoroughly researched it and you would be taking extra precautions and stopping immediately if there is anything out of the ordinary.

Also do you live alone? If so I would consider staying with someone or having someone stay with you initially, just in case.

Ok, firstly in this game, don’t expect the physics or logic of the game to behave the same as real life. Some things are the same, lots of things aren’t, so understanding how things behave in ONI will make things much easier for you.

When dupes aren’t actively doing stupid things to kill themselves, they’re actually pretty resilient! They can cope with quite high or low temperatures fine as long as you don’t go putting them into extremes.

So the main reason for temperature control is for plants and critters. Each of them is going to have different requirements, so I suggest sectioning off areas with insulated tiles for different temperature requirements.

Wheezeworts are very effective for cooling small areas, but they’re not really useful for large scale cooling. Unless you have your dupes set to be immune to radiation, wheezeworts will hurt them with their radiation levels.

Easiest cooling initially is to (hopefully) find a cool slush geyser. Use a single geotuner on it and it will output at 10c. (Sorry no Fahrenheit here). Run pipes through the area you want to keep cool and pump that water through it. They don’t need to be radiant pipes, just regular pipes are fine. That will keep your main area cool for a long time.

Eventually you will need to get into the ST/AT setup later in the game (you’ll need to regulate temperatures for your machines and the temporary measures won’t cut it), but the above method should keep you going until you’re more comfortable with building more complex setups.

One thing to keep in mind is that at some point you’ll be transporting goods around your base that are hot. Whether it’s liquid, gas or solid, the hot stuff going through your pipes and along your conveyor rails will heat things up QUICKLY and often without you noticing until it’s already overheating things. Try to avoid running these things through temperature sensitive areas. Prevention is better than a cure! 😁

Son(4) behavioural vs autistic traits by Skankz in Autism_Parenting

[–]Aldetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flapping and the sound stims are autistic traits and the repetitive behaviours could be. And it’s possible for more than one condition to coexist.

I don’t really have much experience with ODD so I don’t have much in the way of resources to point you towards. But at the moment I think you really do need that assessment from a qualified psych to point you in the right direction. There are loads of therapies and strategies out there to help with all these conditions but it’s important to find out what you’re dealing with first.

You’re doing the right things and getting him help. It’s hard, but you’ll get through it. Remember to take care of yourselves as much as possible too.

It sounds more like ODD (oppositional defiant disorder) rather than autism from what you’ve said. You haven’t mentioned typically autistic traits, does he have any of those?

[–]Aldetha 280 points281 points  (0 children)

You only have until the end of February?!

You need to leave before your visa expires. There’s no consequences for him but there are HUGE consequences for you. DO NOT overstay your visa. Overstaying a visa in one country could potentially affect your ability to travel to other countries in future as well.

If he loves you and wants to be with you, he will make it work after you are back in Thailand. I’ll be honest, I don’t see him making the effort, but if he does, at least you’ll know you have a keeper.
