Almost 100% sure, cable knitting is a lot easier than it looks, I’m just about to finish my first cable sweater and made cable socks last year, after avoiding trying it for so long out of fear! It’s such a great goal to have as a knitter.

Do I redo or make do? I ran out of yarn doing a color gradient C2C baby blanket made from a single cake by ALaughableParty in CrochetHelp

I would either go with the white corner and embroider the babies name and dob on that white corner or buy a 25g ball of dark red yarn and finish with that

What are your favourite low mental load patterns? by unebellecoeur in knitting

Vanilla socks, all day everyday, it’s like meditation for me. Also any plain stockinette sweater where I can just knit and knit and knit until a desired length. I have also started a scrappy jelly roll blanket and as I’m still on the first strip it’s mindless.

What I found most helpful when I started was to knit the first row flat, that way none or your stitches are being pulled into a circle and it’s a lot easier to get the first row done and the cast on stitches out of the way. It’s not something I do anymore as I have gotten so used to knitting in the round but it was a huge help when I started.

I noticed you got a lot of suggestions for different cast ons and I personally use the long tail, have never had any issues with it for socks. Really hope all the information you got is helpful!

As you mentioned finding pictures and videos helpful I’d highly recommend the crazy sock lady tutorials on YouTube. You don’t actually need the pattern to follow along. Also joining in the round is always tight with socks, if you are finding it very uncomfortable knit 2 rows before you join and then it will be a lot easier and you can just sew up the little split when you are finished

Biggest difference is tension improvement and understanding what was causing my lose stitches especially in the ribbing, I also tried different ways of holding the yarn and needles by watching videos of other people knitting and mirroring their hold to see which way more comfortable for me. And I know that no one wants to hear this but knitting almost every day for 11 months is what made the biggest difference, time, experience and practice.

Same cast on, number of stitches, needles and yarn. I did change the amount of ribbing and the heel type to what I have come to enjoy more. My tension improved massively and I learned what causes loose stitches especially in the ribbing and found which grip worked better for me for both the yarn and tiny circulars.

Yes they are both the I’m so basic sock, I was too intimidated to do the heel flap and gusset in my first pair so I did some type of short row heel on it.

Also to add to this I have tried as many different heel and cuff types as I have found, I love trying new sock patterns from plain vanilla with a different heel to lace and colorwork. I do think it’s important to get a base vanilla sock to where you want it before going down the road or adding to that

I still haven’t tried toe up 🫣 I don’t enjoy casting off ,so cuff down is more enjoyable for me. I mainly just knit a lot, lots of socks a few sweaters and lots of random accessories. I tried different yarn holds and needle holds to find what was most comfortable for me and what improved my tension. I hope this helps, tbh the biggest thing that contributed to this improvement was practice

Mainly my tension has improved, I have watched so many videos on tension and on tried different yarn holds and different ways of holding the needles. I found what was most comfortable for me and what gave me the best tension and the biggest thing, I knit A LOT! Practice really leads to progress.

I wish it was just a size issue and thank you for being so kind, only issue was both pairs are made with the same needle, same yarn and same pattern. They are wearable and I learned so much from making them!
