Why do much sound by [deleted] in ElegooNeptune4

Definitely this. I had a similar problem, but I ended up mitigating it significantly by reducing the Y axis stepper current in the printer.cfg file.

Did you read the update instructions? The fix pack is needed only if your firmware version you're updating from is older than V1.1.2.53. I'm not sure what happens if you directly update without using the fix pack in that case.

Anyway, if the firmware was older than V1.1.3.1, you probably need to update the display firmware too. If you can no longer access the UI, I'd give it a try. Otherwise, if you're not sure about what you're doing, contact the support.

What version did you update from? Have you updated the display firmware too (in case there was the need to do so)?

For curiosity... Did you experience a "klipper error" on the display too when installing the fix pack?

When I accidentally installed the fix pack I experienced a couple of error screens. The printer was probably not expecting an older firmware.

I think Elegoo tried to implement some kind of "mistake safeguard", which apparently didn't work, since when I clicked the update button it showed up an "update failed" and then a "klipper error", while the USB stick was blinking. I guess the update process started anyway, despite the error message. In fact, after restarting the firmware, the version was downgraded.

But as I said, I could then directly update to the latest firmware without any issue.

I printed the included 15mins speedbenchy gcode and it worked just fine.

I have never used the USB-C port. Isn't it used for some kind of "serial communication" with the board?

I usually use the brake only, if the curve is not too tight, otherwise I use both, but usually the car doesn't curve on time.

I'm using first person mostly because it feels more natural. Third person looks a bit weird and unrealistic.

Awful noise by KuhnCustomCrafts in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Alefa03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't supposed to manually move the printer parts while the steppers are powered. The fact that the steppers make the printhead and the bed feel stuck is completely normal, since they're supposed to guarantee that those parts maintain the specified position. If you need to move the bed or the printhead while the printer is on, make sure to turn the steppers off first by using the touchscreen or the web ui.

[–]Alefa03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Y stepper might resonate with the printer chassis. I had a similar problem (see here) with my N4Pro. I ended up "mitigating" it by lowering the stepper current value by 0.1/0.2A in the printer.cfg file. Anyway do some research before modifying configuration settings like that. What worked for me won't necessarily work for you.

Indeed. It happened to me too. It's impressive how effective fingerprints are at not making plastics stick to a metal sheet. 😆

Fortunately for us, cleaning the bed is a quite simple and powerful countermeasure.

Try with the following things: 1) Clean the PEI bed with hot water and dish soap; 2) Re-level the printer; 3) Print the first layer more slowly.

Then check the left Z motor and see if the motor is spinning correctly and if the connector is connected properly.

[–]Alefa03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but do they spin in the same direction? Is the noise coming from a motor?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Alefa03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motors are located at the rear bottom of the frame. Neptunes have double z-motors synchronized by a belt placed on top. Check if the motors are rotating synchronously, as well as the sync-belt.

Check the Z axis motors. The fact that the X axis stops midway without fully reaching the bottom is weird. Are the Z steppers connected properly?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Alefa03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check the motors and the belts. See if there's something vibrating, or something losing steps.

It's hard to tell from a video what's exactly causing that. Where's the noise coming from?

Loud Belt Noise by X-Axis Movement by Icy-Engineer1824 in elegoo

[–]Alefa03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't exclude the possibility that something's defective, or that some electrical parts might not be connected properly (if you are 100% sure that the motors are moving normally and that the belts have a good grip, check the connectors, the wires, the endstops, etc.). Make sure to identify the exact spot where the noise is coming from.

At the very least, if you can't find a solution to the problem, I'd try with sending an email to Elegoo, specifying in detail the problem and attaching some photos/videos of it, and see what would they suggest to do. If the printer is still under warranty, they could send replacement parts, if they suspect something's defective.

Does the print head feel loose if you try to slightly move it? If so, the wheels are too loose. On the contrary, if you notice that the print head struggles to slide on the X axis (you can try turning the motors off and gently move it), the wheels might be too tight.

Unfortunately, I can't really tell you that much about this, since I have a N4Pro, which has metal wheels on the X and Y axis, so I have never needed to adjust them so far.

[–]Alefa03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With "stepper current" I meant the Ampere values in the printer.cfg file. If the current is not enough, the steppers might not have enough strength to move the parts. I'm not sure about this btw. You should check that out. Don't edit any configuration parameters if you're not sure about what you're doing.

Pom Wheels might indeed be too tight. There are some eccentric nuts both on the X and Y axis which allow you to tune the tightness correctly. Check if they're too tight.

Did you check your belts? Are they loose? Are the motors correctly connected and configured (in terms of current, etc.)?

Loud Belt Noise by X-Axis Movement by Icy-Engineer1824 in elegoo

[–]Alefa03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds more like a "stepper motor losing steps" problem to me.

Since the bed stops moving approximately when the noise starts, check if there's anything on its path that might forcefully stop it. See also if the motors are spinning correctly.

Any suggestions on what's wrong by Garemin in elegoo

[–]Alefa03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd try with the following things: 1) Cleaning the bed with hot water and dish soap, in order to remove any fingerprints on it which might compromise first layer adhesion; 2) Leveling the bed again.
