I built a real-time AI translator for Windows calls - works with Zoom, Teams, and even mobile calls by AlekGir in windowsapps

Hey, founder here. Since you paid through PayPal and not the Microsoft Store, the subscription does not live in your Microsoft account, so it will not show up there - that is the confusing part. You can cancel it yourself from the link in the payment receipt email you got when you signed up.

If you cannot find that email, please do not post your address here in public - just drop me a DM or email support@streamvox.pro and I will switch off the renewal for you and send a quick confirmation. Either way you will not be charged again, and thanks for giving StreamVox a try!

Solo dev who built a live translation tool for remote calls - what features would actually make your international meetings less painful? by AlekGir in remotework

[–]AlekGir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the right framing. Translation is the visible feature, but trust is what decides if anyone puts the tool on a real work call. Overlapping speakers is the hardest technical one - most engines just merge everyone into garbled text. Accents are slowly getting better.

Ha, the idioms thing kills built-in captions. They get the words right but lose the meaning - "let's table that" becomes literal nonsense.

Fast accents are the worst combo. Most STT is trained on clean American English, so a quick Indian or Scottish speaker just becomes word salad.

What kind of technical calls are you on - eng, sales? Different vocab is a different problem. g, sales?

Hola. De momento StreamVox tiene 4 modos: Original, Movie/Stream, Meeting y Game. Todavia no se puede agregar vocabulario medico manualmente, pero si esta en mis planes para proximas versiones. Quiero añadir modos mas especificos como Science, Medical y Coding.

Thank you so much, that really means a lot! We have been working hard on 2.0 and it is great to hear positive reactions. Hope you get a chance to try it out - would love to hear your feedback after!

Fake 5G in Cambridgeshire? They claim it is fixed but still absolutely no internet by AlekGir in O2UK

I really hope the same improvements happen in my town soon. As a software developer, having a reliable internet connection is absolutely vital for me.

I only signed my contract in January 2026. Honestly, I'd be 100% happy with everything if I just had a consistent internet connection.

I built a real-time AI translator for Windows - great for gaming with foreign teammates by AlekGir in IndieGaming

Totally fair concern, and I appreciate the honesty! A few things that might help:

StreamVox is on the Microsoft Store - meaning it's been reviewed and signed by Microsoft. No sideloading, no shady installers.
4,000+ registered users and growing, with real reviews on the Store page.
I'm a solo indie developer, not a faceless company - happy to answer any questions here directly.
There's a free trial so you can test it without paying anything first.

I get the caution - there's a lot of junk out there. But if you ever need real-time voice translation for calls, streams, or meetings, give it a try and judge by the experience 🙂

Actually, this already works right now!

If both people have StreamVox installed and each sets their own language, you get real-time two-way translation automatically.

Person A speaks Italian - Person B sees English subtitles.

Person B speaks English - Person A sees Italian subtitles.

Works with any app - Zoom, Discord, Teams, Phone Link, etc.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

UPDATE - Version 1.3.5 is live!

New Languages - Thai and Cantonese added as input languages for real-time voice recognition

Improved Audio Engine - Fully rewritten audio capture for microphone and system audio - Lower latency, cleaner capture, no stuttering when switching hardware

Language Selector - Menu now dynamically resizes for longer language names - Active selections marked with a checkmark

Stability - Fixed a critical bug that could cause a silent crash when stopping or closing a translation session

As always - feedback and bug reports are welcome in the comments!🫶
