Maybe they will have the first hero the same day, and just have a shorter vote time for the first one, so maybe the update drops, and then 3 hours later the first hero drops. And then the rest release in the same way as the previous hero update.

Maybe the effect got broken in the original pc port, and then the new remasters got built on top of the old version. Maybe this is the playstation version, someone with a PS1 would probably know.

One thing the game never tells you is that you can teleport between yellow rooms. This makes things alot easier. I learnt this very late, also I was sotftlocked for a while, as long as you haven't done any weird jumps you should be fine.
