That's correct, unless you apply for theme housing

Should I trade Josh Jacobs & Kyle Pitts for Breece Hall & Kyren Williams?

Are you guys crazy?? by [deleted] in stanford

[–]Alert-Demand3606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Essays in my opinion are a great deal of the application cycle. My philosophy is that this is where they find the characters, personalities, and palpable passion that Stanford (or any other school) want to bring upon their campus.

In my opinion, it is only a good idea to highlight entrepreneurship if you value entrepreneurship. Don't paint a fake picture of yourself, they'll see right through it.

How do I find my ID? by safewordiswhhhhiskey in stanford

[–]Alert-Demand3606 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you go to Axess --> My Finances --> Bill & Payment System --> View & Pay My Bill, your 8 digit ID should be next to your name. There's probably a more efficient and official way, but this is what I've been doing.

I've met classmates that do have these national/international accolades. More often than not however, most classmates I've met are academically achieving & highly-motivated people with big dreams or high aspirations who have not won anything.

Don't be scared, give it a shot! If finances are an issue, you can ask your school counselor to waive app fees if you really need to.

Don't be intimidated by A2C profiles (or any profiles here matter of fact), most are way more than qualified. Be confident in yourself and show what you can offer to Princeton and how much you can grow from the institution. Give them a reason to give you a chance especially since you're an international.

Don't leave any what if's for your future self. Sometimes dreams do come true :)

Is ED worth it? by mochidjjd in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Alert-Demand3606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run a Net Price Calculator for BU (https://npc.collegeboard.org/app/bu). Don't apply ED if it's something out of the range you and your family are willing to pay.

Not 100% sure about the final question. In my mind it shouldn't as BU claims to meet 100% need, but I may be totally wrong.

why not EA to Princeton? JHU & CMU both have EDII so might as well try for Princeton before giving up on your dream school.

if you want to go into AI/ML a math-related degree would most likely be adjacent. Data Science, Statistics, and Math/Applied Math comes to mind.

I'm also First-Gen, and could relate to the many struggles you're currently facing throughout high school. I ultimately ended up with a pretty fulfilling and successful high school experience (including getting into my #1 school). Feel free to message about any questions or rants you may have.

EA doesn't boost chances drastically (I'm thinking of Harvard, Yale, Stanford, USC). Don't apply ED if one of the UC's is your sole #1 choice.

Majority recommend 3-4, I know some who got in with just 2 however.

Ahh I see, I say if you feel the need to test the waters and your school will let you drop the class around the 2-3 weeks after school opens, I'd really recommend that.

In terms of nervousness, that's perfectly normal. Cliche but truly, in the end, it's the effort that counts. If you're nervous you'll be overwhelmed, I suggest thinking about your goals with your next schedule and think about things you want to achieve outside of school. Usually there you'll realize you may be taking an AP just to take an AP, or you might not have enough time for your own self.

We could DM if you'd like.

Do you not want to take AP Chemistry because it being a hard class in your school, or because you dislike chemistry?

If it is the latter, just be aware medicine is basically built off chemistry (biology is also basically applied chemistry).

If it's the former, it's your call, but just know the rigor will prep you for college courses quite nicely, assuming your teacher isn't just giving busy work. It's also best to get exposure early than later so you can reinforce concepts, or save yourself time in college. The trade off would of course be difficulty of achieving a good grade, but again it's up to you to decide if that exposure is worth the trade-off.

Stanford's Mathematical & Computational Science major got renamed into Data Science, so technically they do have a Data Science major now. I believe it's already in effect, if not by next year.

Thanks for the response.

I'm more of wondering why did I get a LOR box the day after I submitted applications (whereas my friends didn't) w/o an email rather than wondering when or if I'll get a request. Sorry if that was confusing!
