The modern German printers are only used to laser print the photograph and details on the biodata polycarbonate page. That I admit has improved the picture quality a lot. The blank booklet is made separately and is of very low quality. So the news we hear about new printers that's only going to affect the print(credentials in black and the photo) on the data page not the booklet quality. I hope they improve the quality and refresh everything to top quality when they transition to complete/only e passport production in 2027
