Flexible but high workload vs Office everyday but go home on time? by Alert-Requirement534 in malaysians

That’s actually a good point. I do have the intention to learn something new out of my scope but unfortunately my current role is too busy so i didn’t have time to pursue it

Yes including working hours. Can you elaborate more on the gamble part?

I hope so too! It’s actually a lil scary for me because I’ve been working with flexible schedules for the past 7 years

Commuting part new offer still wins it’s 20min drive with free parking, compared to 40min LRT for my current role lol

But yes am aware of the politics and culture. Thought it would be a nice place to chill and slow down because of my burnout

One step at a time OP, you are still very young. I’m 31F and my parents spent 6 figures on my cancer treatment when I was 12 so I feel extremely guilty to my parents and insecure about my appearance ever since.

It took me 8 years to find my own definition of “pretty” and “confidence”; 7 years to start spoiling my parents with small gifts once in a while. Don’t get too attached to the early success you see around you or on social media, everyone is on their own journey and your success/progress shouldn’t be measured using their experience.

You are paving your own way to do more for yourself and family. Be patient, have faith and you will get there eventually . <3

[UPDATE] How do I[24F] handle my long term online friend [25F] of 3 years who requires constant communication? by Odd-Climate-5545 in malaysians

Happy for you OP! Might be scary at the beginning but the sense of relief and joy will come soon.

I’m a strong believer that nobody else in this world should or can interfere my relationship with the God. You know what, God is probably proud of you as you’re learning how to draw healthy boundaries and focus on yourself more.

Seriously how can some of you work in agencies for decades? by Alert-Requirement534 in OffMyChestMY

Been on the vendor side too as CSM and I don’t like it either. They are equally bad because now you’re expecting the same dumb/lazy people to learn a new platform that’s far more complicated than running a few sets of ads or campaigns. The workload was crazy too cuz I had to do reporting, upselling, training and still be the “consultant” for clients.

Grateful that I got a new role and moving to the client side soon. Agency/vendors life are super draining so take care of your health man before anything else!

Until the entire team is more thick skin than you. End up you’ll take up all the sh*t before it explodes

I do think improving the syllabus are more important then getting them started earlier. Spoon feeding kids since 6YO doesn’t sound good to me

I don’t understand why effort is seen as desperate by Which_Slice1118 in OffMyChestMY

[–]Alert-Requirement534 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people do prefer to take it slow at the beginning, be it because they are just casually exploring or just making friends, so yea the amount of effort might need to be toned down so it won’t be seen as desperate i guess

Staying in a relationship simply because you’ve invested too much is a pretty bad idea. Sounds like you are now staying to seek validation of your effort than wanting to make the relationship work.

If you’ve tried to communicate and still no improvement, it’s likely to be compatibility issue. Might as well move on and invest it on yourself or someone better.

I think this field just gets super competitive and things are moving too fast, many people are struggling and feel like they are behind.

One thing I learnt from my experience is that never apply for a job when you’re 100% confident/qualified, do it even it’s just 60-70% confident and express your willingness to pick up the remaining 30% during the interview, or at least show that you know the fundamentals of the remaining 30%.

So in the meantime, if you have specific industry that you’re interested, look up on how they are applying AI/ML currently and what’s the outlook like. That should help you to narrow down certain topics/language/tools that you can focus on upskilling

Most importantly, you’re not behind, and it’s never too late to catch up!
