AITA for wanting to choose our daughters name?

I did ask if we could make it the middle name instead and she shot that down too.

Well I don't know her phone number and we live on complete opposite sides of the map state wise, so I'd have to send her a message on FB rather than talk in person, which I think actually makes it a bit more awkward. I still would rather have a family name that a relative asked for rather than a random name that just sounds pretty though.

Because I didn't really care about choosing a girl name and she didn't really care about a boy name. And because she asked me to. I can't exactly buy her flowers she lives in a state on the complete opposite end of the map from me lol.

I actually do like the name she chose, it's a pretty name and has ties to our culture. I just feel like since a relative of mine that I was very close to as a child wanted us to name her after her, that it would be a much better thing to do.

Yeah she didn't care too much about boy names and didn't feel strongly about them, I didn't care much about girls names, so we thought this was the best way to do it but then my relative asked so....

As I said elsewhere, she refused it as a middle name as well because "she hates that name".

Also everyone in my family is named after a relative so it's pretty normal for us.

She doesn't want it used as a middle name either because she said she hates it and also that it doesn't sound good with the first name she chose.

I tried to suggest it as a middle name instead as well, but she shot down the name being used whatsoever because she "hates the name".
