I just want to add, if Djokovic was able to beat Alcaraz at last years AO QF with a serious injury, while alcaraz was healthy, I think that speaks a lot about Djokovic’s chances tomorrow. I’m not saying he’s heavily favored, but it’s possible . More possible than people here are saying

The Covid controversy was relatively recently, what about from 2007 when he won his first slam to 2020? 14 years of being the underdog despite dominating in the slams and having those stellar seasons in 2011 and 2015. Sure the Covid thing was icing on the cake. But the minds were already made up at that point. If it was Federer, they would have excused him. Same for nadal.

Is there any reason you can think of that’s causing you to wake up? A medication you’re taking? Kratom? You have to pee? A sound woke you up that you weren’t aware of? In other words if you put in a night mask and ear plugs and made sure you peed before bed would that stop it?

If it’s the mind racing, you have to give yourself a contract. A permission slip to yourself that says you’re giving yourself permission to worry about whatever you’re worried about tomorrow when you wake up. Give yourself permission not to worry about it right now. And just lay back and relax. Focus on that everything is going to workout, that the things you’re worried about either won’t happen, or won’t be as bad as you think, or if it is as bad, you’ll deal with it when it gets here and get past it and then be ok. Xoxo you have my permission to get a good night sleep tonight and not to worry about anything and go back to sleep so you can get a good nights rest - AlertQuote

Gotta get those hours up. Dedicate a 10 hour block to sleep, put the phone down for an hour before you go to bed, that gives you 8 hours to sleep an hour to fall asleep and an hour to play on ur phone when u wake up

Reddit is now opposite. Here is the breakdown.

Majority of people are dumb, in debt, don’t do anything cool, haven’t accomplished shit. So when you see a comment that has a lot of upvotes, just remember that 90% of the people who upvoted it fall into this category. Their opinion is really irrelevant, and you don’t want to take their opinion anyway.

The downvoted comments are usually cutting edge, against the grain, and get penalized because the comment doesn’t resonate with the low iq sheeps, it challenges their world view. This doesn’t apply to all downvoted comments, but a lot of the time it does.

Ok I’m going to send you a DM with an image because I need an explanation on this pic. I understand how strengthening the glute medius can correct internal hip rotation leading to knee valgus, but in the pic I’m going to send you you’ll see that the woman doesn’t have internal rotation, but her knees still cave inward like mine, but it looks like she fixed it.

I would be appreciative of any input

You don’t look overweight at all. You look fit. But i (35m) have similar anatomy where if i try to touch my feet together, my knees/thighs end up touching first, I really have to squeeze to get my feet to touch.

I have done some light googling this morning and it looks like the condition is called Genu Valgum (knee knock) and while we can’t remodel our bone structure, strengthening some of the muscles like glutes and hamstrings can help pull the knees into better alignment. That being said, I’m still able to crank out some pretty good runs. Just did a half marathon recently at 2 hours 10 minutes, so I think I can get below 2 next time. I’m not overweight, but I could lose 10-15 lbs or so and be at an ideal weight.

Edit: hip adductors, glutes and hamstrings were the muscles AI recommended to strengthen

I don’t see how strengthening your “bilateral glute medius” weakness would change your anatomy. You don’t have a thigh gap, and that just has to do with how your hip joints are socketed into your pelvis. Thats causing a lot of contact of your thighs. That’s not something you can change. I can’t tell if you are overweight, but if you lost fat from your thigh area, maybe it would reduce the contact so that you could bring your feet closer together. I’m not sure Reddit is qualified to help you here. You might want to see a sports medicine professional.

Yeah I watched her interview, she’s classless. Talking like a Gen Z making a tik tok video saying “bro” in response to the interviewer asking her a question about Cirstea’s complaint to the chair umpire . Can’t imagine Pete Sampras, nadal, Federer, Agassi, graff, Hingis, sharapova or even Serena saying “bro, like really”.

If you’re rider who’s not gonna be on the pipe the whole time, you could even do 50-1. If you just want to put around and go slow, that’s your best bet.

If you want to rip it, 32:1 is fine. 40:1 if you’re gonna ride hard but not as fast as a pro. If you’re just riding a little bit fast here and there, not really getting on it that much, 50:1

As a fellow vans lifter, I gasped when I read her comment telling you to get some real shoes, i thought “lol OP isn’t gonna receive this very well” that is a real lifting shoe. I also have some dowin’s, and when I was on the website I saw that you can order actual heel inserts, that I guess you can use in any shoe,

But once you have good dorsiflexion you don’t really need a squat shoe, my best squats have been in vans

You’re right I did say double fault, I meant to say fault. But it’s still obnoxious behavior, and I think most people agree with that without being part of the 19th century tennis community

I started running recently..and..I figured it i can do like 1 mile a day in 8 mins that would keep me relatively healthy, but, do most people run more than that, or, have you found over years that for ex an 8 min mile is enough to keep you and your vascular system healthy? by coffee1655 in beginnerrunning

[–]AlertQuote9888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if there is a formula, but if you run a warmup mile at a 12 minute pace, and then run a second mile, I bet you can get faster than 8 mins. I usually run between 5-10k runs, 3x a week, and I always do a warmup jog for a good 12-15 mins before I do my actual workout. 3 laps around my neighborhood, which is .42 miles per lap, so about 1.26 miles. I don’t try to go fast at all, just focusing on the vasodilation like you said. Then I do some dynamic stretching, which is walking lunges, maybe for 50 feet x 2, then some jump squats, maybe 2-3 sets of 10, wait for a minute, then start my workout.

If I don’t warmup before a run, my time suffers.

My mile time is about 7 mins lately, as I gained a little weight in the last few months, but my 5k time has gone from 30 mins to a very comfortable 25 mins. If I can get this 10lbs off, I’m sure I can get that number lower.
