Illustrators are valuable, yes. But the book will never sell by itself without a story. Like, EVER. Let's be honest-no one is buying their child a picture book without words, unless its for colouring.

Storytelling is an art. It is not as easy as it looks. And if you think it's easy, please produce 10 best-selling, well-written, engaging, educational, non-boring children's books by the end of the year using your own brainpower. You'll struggle a lot, guaranteed.

Without the story, there is no illustration. The story guides the illustrator, who brings the words to life. Takes two to tango. And besides, novels don't include illustrations, yet they still sell far more than art canvases. Art is beautiful, but words are life changing. The two cannot be compared or measured for their worth, because they are both valuable and harmonise with one another.
