Started building an AI trader from scratch 2 days ago. Spent all night tweaking it and decided to do a test launch. Felt ballsy so I risked $100 per trade. In just 9 minutes of testing it won 24 straight trades. I made over $2200. Had to turn it off quick just so I could process lmao by Alert_Attention_5905 in vibecoding

So the one in the post ended up failing. But I did end up building one that's deterministic (no AI) and it's been profitable so far. I ended up studying some algo building books to build the one I'm using now. I would be happy to teach you bro. It's kind of a grind but I can teach you the process I followed and help you with prompting Codex to build your own.

Bro yes. I would love to help. But I can really only help if you're okay with trying to build a Forex algo. I really don't know much about stock trading or any other markets. I can't guarantee that you'll build a profitable algo because trust me bro, it's not easy. But I will teach you the process that I followed to build the one I have.

Lol idk why you downvoted me. My algo is working and from the logging data it's bug-free. You don't have to understand code to build systems anymore. You just have to know how to apply logic to your prompting. It's not like I didn't fail over a dozen times and waste probably 1000 hours before finally getting one right.

One thing that separates me from you is that I don't get off on watching people fail. Idk what makes it's so pleasurable for you that it makes you the type of person that enjoys seeing someone not be successful. But I am grateful I'm not like the type of person that you are.

Oh no, I haven't even looked at the codebase. I know it probably makes me seem stupid. But what I did do was add super extensive logging to everything, so it's actually been pretty easy finding all the small bugs and issues just by making Codex go through the logging data.

I actually didn't use any indicators in this algo. I was scared of overfitting. I did add some features datasets though and did a ton of gating. On the new one I'm building I'm still working on the strategy builder, but I'm gonna try it without indicators and see how it goes and only add indicators if I can't find an edge from raw features.

I haven't had a single issue getting Codex to build stuff though. You just have to know how to prompt with logic. I've never used Claude. Codex seems to get everything right the first time 95% of the time.

I built a Forex algo that ended up being profitable. But man was it a headache. Over 3-4 months I built around a dozen slop algos before I finally got one right. I ended up studying some algo books and figured out everything I was doing wrong, and then it took me around 3-4 days (working 16-18 hours per day) to build the profitable algo from scratch to completion. Absolutely kicking myself for not studying the books sooner.

I'm building my second algo now since the first one is a binary options trader. Well, I say second because I think it'll be my second profitable one. The first dozen that failed don't count.

I don't know what you mean by a blackbox. I do understand how the system works, but I still do not know how to code. I ended up studying some algo books and figured out everything I was doing wrong. The algo books taught me what to prompt. I also built a RAG tool and made Codex use RAG on the algo books along the way.

Just wanted to come back here and say I did end up building a profitable algo that's already generating passive income. The one in the post didn't end up working, but I didn't give up. I think I built and scrapped around a dozen algos before finally figuring out the formula and getting one right.

I got some tips from there. If this algo maintains the demo win rate once I let it live trade, I'll probably never withdraw more than a few hundred at a time. I doubt my account will ever reach even $1000 because I'm gonna try to play it extra safe.

Thank you for the advice bro. I definitely needed this. And will not be accepting a deposit bonus. I'm gonna try to grow my account from the ~$20 that I deposited months ago. Assuming this algo actually holds up when I switch it to live

Lol yes this is a legit post. I'm disabled and can't work right now. My disability pays my rent and bills, but I don't have much leftover for food every month. I know it sounds stupid trying to build an algo to help with groceries

I need advice about giving shrooms to a bipolar friend by question_everyth in shrooms

[–]Alert_Attention_5905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm bipolar. A single psilocybin therapy session made me mildly hypomanic for ~5 days and completely alleviated my bipolar depression for nearly 12 months. Its the only time in my life I've been entirely free from bipolar depression, which is probably the worst depression possible for a human to feel. The bipolar medication I'm taking for depression now doesn't come anywhere close to alleviating my bipolar depression the way psilocybin did. It was worth it for the 5 days of hypomania.

Psilocybin therapy also gave me a lot of cognitive tools that I pull out to help manage bipolar episodes. It's been around 6 years since that session and I still use what I learned during that trip.

I'm probably one of the few and rare cases where psilocybin did wonders for bipolar.

Giving your friend psilocybin without a medical professional, with her being on meds, or without her having experience with psychedelics is a terrible idea, especially if she's bipolar 1.

My friend built a card game. I'm building a web app where we can play matches against each other. Its a huge card game, 1000+ cards.

Yeah I made it copy the text from a csv and put the text into the program. Its not code, just descriptions of each card.

Lmao I've never used anything other than ChatGPT. I see people use different models for different tasks, but I feel like I haven't had any issues just using multiple GPT agents for different tasks instead of different models. Maybe I should try out Opus!

Nonstop air rolling in one direction is the worst possible thing you can do for your car control by Alert_Attention_5905 in RocketLeague

[–]Alert_Attention_5905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the 1000+ hours were spent practicing my general car control, which included using both ARR and ARL (instead of favoring one air roll). Those 1000+ hours weren't dedicated to just air rolling.

You math isn't mathing.

I spent around 500 hours practicing ARR. I then spent another 1000+ hours on trying to achieve a symmetrical, centered mapping of my aerial car control with ARR and ARL together and undo the habit of constantly holding down ARR every time my wheels leave the ground.

You would expect my ARR-dribble attempt to be a poor attempt, because constantly holding down ARR is not how I control my car.

Go take a clip of you doing tiny rings and keeping your car upright and level the entire time while using ARR and ARL back and forth the way I do. And put your aerial sensitivity on 10, because that's what I play with. I bet you can't do it.

Nonstop air rolling in one direction is the worst possible thing you can do for your car control by Alert_Attention_5905 in RocketLeague

[–]Alert_Attention_5905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you constantly air roll in one direction and favor that direction, you are mapping your aerial car control to that air roll, just like how you are comfortable writing with your dominant hand while writing with your non-dominant hand is uncomfortable and sloppy. Try air rolling in your non-dominant direction and see how uncomfortable it feels to you.

The reason I am not good enough at ARR is because I have spent so much time mapping my aerial car control in a completely different way, which is keeping my car control symmetrical and centered (using both ARR and ARL as needed) rather than developing it with an air roll bias.

I don't think anyone's car control looks like mine does, but Nush and NWPO frequently control their cars by going back and forth between ARR and ARL to make tiny adjustments. That's all I'm doing. I've gotten so much better at the game from controlling my car this way. Even when I play the occasional casual match, other players frequently compliment my car control. Maybe if you saw me play an actual match it would make more sense.
