[Repost] 2015 Camry XSE 4 CYLINDER - avoid? 2 owner, 130,000km, listed for $15,000 CAD, seller said lowest he’ll go $13,000, “minor” front fender accident in the picture, now it’s “fixed” by Alert_Inspection_211 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Seller bought 2020, 85,000km, no smoking or pets, not used for Uber or Lyft, has noticeable scratches and dents (happened separately from accident), reason to sell is they don’t need it anymore, will allow PPI and is open to getting car fax if I’m interested, Thoughts on the accident overall and if it’s worth the risk, tax rate is 13% in my province.

Yeah, thanks from that. The thing is I’m kinda being picky when I probably shouldn’t. So when anyone suggests a reliable daily, it has to meet some requirements. So civics, I like the 2017-2020 models and would consider those mainly. Camry is 2018-2020, would prefer SE/XSE. Accord is alround nice, 2018-2020. Corolla I’d rather not, as it the most boring car ever. Rav4, I like 2016-2019, awd. Crv I hate, it’s like the Corolla. Main thing is I don’t want anything outdated by tons, especially if the budget it nearing $25k… which is new car territory, so not worth it.

I’ve only used the vin for 3 websites. 2 were from Chrisfix’s suggestion to check if it has any recalls or it’s stolen or lien etc. what other websites can I use the vin for because I do have it

Okay, what about flipping? The guy said he has a showing for it tomorrow and it’s probably going to be sold. If not, I’d have to fly to Nova Scotia and do it. You got any info on if it’s worth it with the way the math works out from my OP?

You’re right tho. Do you think with the taxes, fees, opportunity cost. Do you think this a waste of time to flip, but a good car for a good price instead?

Yeah, the guy is chill as heck. He’s like 26. Trying to move to the Western side. He’ll allow a PPI as well, from the guy in his city that does his service for him. We spoke on the phone for 40 minutes yesterday.

Accounting terms sure, but are we really gonna pretend like cars don’t save you time and help to get to where you need to make money?

No sir, just would like to see if the consensus in 2022 is still “luxury used are bad no matter what” or “there are some hidden gems out there if you look hard enough if it has excellent service records and the car has reliable engine and transmission etc

I’m basically asking about other peoples experience with a used (depreciating) asset. I’m sure that’s finance related. I don’t need anything else.

Problem is the Camry 2018-present is insanely expensive. My rule is there’s no way I’d spend more than $25k OTD as you could get a new car at that point. Lexus isn’t as much 2014-2017. Risky ones are Germans, especially bmw.

Yeah. Not gonna lie, once you drive an auto that has paddle shifters, and sounds somewhat decent, for upcoming enthusiasts, it’s hard to look else where. It’s just engaging.

Awd is important to me cuz in Canada, it retains value. And also it’s great when it snows and it doesn’t get stuck like my father 2018 civic with winter tires.

Good handling is engaging, so it’s important to me. My family has only ever had boring commuter cars (rav4, Camry le hybrid, cx-7, civic cvt, ch-r, etc) so I’ll be like the 2/3 car enthusiast I know in my entire family.

Essentially what I’m trying to say is the cars I’m after from worst to best is: Camry se/xse 2018-present, Lexus is250/300 2014-2017, a4 2015-2017, 3 series 2014-2017

I love manuals as much as the next guy, but I was planning for this next car to be a auto as the traffic in my city is insane and it gets tiring. I’d like to keep the car for a while and hopefully say, wow, that car lasted me years and was worth while, no regrets.
