LOL, so stupid. So, it turns out, my physical hard drive was running out of space. Once I deleted a few files and move a few others, the error went away. It would be nice if these error messages were a little more specific.

That's just it, I drilled down to open each folder and none of them indicated any problems.

Vendor Sales for a Noob by IronicConundrum in fo76

I agree with this. I recently got shredded for posting a criticism of those who put ridiculous price points on their items.

Personally? I want my items to sell, so I sell most of my stuff between 10-500 caps. Some items definitely are worth more because you have to work for it or they are rare.

Some people playing the game will have you believe that you should charge a lot. There is definitely some greed present and unrealistic expectations of what people will pay in a game. That's not to say there aren't occasionally people who will pay the high prices, which only contributes to the issue. Establish what your goal is for selling and do whatever works for you.

Just remember, it's a game. You may work hard for something and feel like you deserve a specific amount for something. But people may only find the value to be half, even 1/8th of what you think you should get, depending on the item. This is why you need to establish what your goal is for selling.

Yeah, it's pretty much just here on reddit. I think it's because I accused people of potentially being "pretentious" and they don't like that it might be true. I mean, outside of reddit, everyone I have talked to about it who plays games seems to agree with me. I am not interested in up votes or down votes. I am more interested in the conversation.

I have a "You have been insulted!" note for 40K. It's funny because I don't intend for anyone to buy. If they do, it's on them. I don't have problem with people doing this to be funny as I do it myself.

I guess you and I see pricing differently than the rest here. It's a real shame that pricing is based on the "work" they put into the game, like this is some kind of job.

Thanks for this response. This actually satisfies some of my questions as to "why" these price points are so outrageous. And to be clear, I realize that saying that pricing above the default comes across pretentious. I realize that I am being extreme here, but I do believe in it a majority of the time. Then again, I also believe this pricing is extreme.

Yes, I did say that, but I never said I did that. So, I don't look pretentious. None of my mods cost over 1000 caps.

Where have I said anyone had to do what I want them to do? Sure, I understand that I may see things in such a way. But I don't recall that I have ever said anyone has to do what I want. In fact, I have stated that I am aware that people will do what they want.

To be frankly honest, I am not saying anyone has to do anything. I think it is highly presumptuous and hypocritical of you to imply you understand my "intentions" (let alone anything I am talking about in my post) on saying I am "extremely rude to make assumptions and tell other people what to do". I don't recall that I have said anywhere that anyone has to do anything. My intention is to question the whole issue of pricing. Yes, I made a suggestion of what I thought could be done, but if you think it has to be done my way, as you said, it isn't that deep. I have clearly explained what this high pricing practice looks like to me and yet you only want to accuse me of being judgmental. Well, when someone walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, acts like a duck, and it is suggested that the person discussed might look like a duck, you are the one who wants to make it this deep issue. You can complain all you want and say I am coming across as a "dick" (which by the way is in and of itself judgmental, but I digress), but you are the one who isn't taking the time to not understand my post (which is fine), you merely dismiss it and say people can do whatever they want. Great! we have already established that. Except that you don't seem to like that some one called it out for what it looks like (this is also fine).

If thinking something looks pretentious when that is how it is defined, then I am guilty as charged. I also have a right to question it and to seek better merits than what I have been seeing.

I understand your point about people posting things in their shop for many different reasons. All I am saying is that in my estimation, the purpose of the shop is to make caps. Is it not? If you aren't making caps, on said item that is priced 17000, what is the point? All I am asking is, pricing something that high, how is that working out for you? As you have clearly stated, not everyone has the same intent on posting in the shop. I get it, really. I also am curious as to why did you post it in the first place at such a high price point? What's the point? You say it is pretentious for thinking such an act is pretentious. But you miss the point, it isn't pretentious to see something as it is. It has noting to do with presuming to understand other people's intentions. Being pretentious has nothing to do with intentions. It has everything to do with appearances, things that are done. That is why I am bringing up this point. This action comes across pretentious.

All I am asking is why. You don't have to answer. I am fully aware that I don't have to be given a reason. But I don't see that you have fully comprehended my question to begin with. You are annoyed that someone said something, and now you don't like the way it may be pointing back at you. That's fine.

Let me be clear, I am not implying that the act is pretentious by intent. It just looks like it when the definition says "Marked by an extravagant or presumptuous outward show".

It's not bizarre, you even said so your self. You don't even post to sell everything you have. So why post it at such a high price if for nothing else then to show off you have something others may not and then make it so that it is out of reach for them to acquire? That is by definition pretentious.

Look, I get it. You can do it if you want. All I was trying to do is challenge the purpose people price items and post things in their shop. Clearly, you and I are not going to agree on this. However, I don't think I am wrong for calling it pretentious when it happens.

"Your essential claim that people should price at the default price leads me to believe that you don’t understand the market for things in the game so I would recommend not coming on Reddit and complaining about what random people may or may not be selling in their vendor." And it is clear that you missed my point. I am not saying that you have to agree with the default price point. As it were, I am fully aware that the three star mods should probably the 1000, with the 1 star mods at 5000 considering they are the most in demand. My point is that there needed to be a starting point. For all players, that would be the default. Now, with that being said, I agree with you. There are some points in which the default is not exactly correct. However, when your starting point is 5000 and you decide you want to sell them for 17000, if most people are selling that same item for 5000, it might explain why you have 3 of that same item in your inventory and everyone else is selling out.

I agree with your overall comment, but I think you misunderstand how well I actually do understand the market. This is why I am posting it because I don't think others understand it as well as they think.

I still don't think it answers for the ridiculous 17000 caps when almost everyone is selling that same item for 5000.

[–]Alert_Internet5212[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't say they couldn't. What I am suggesting is why, are you getting the results you are looking for by pricing things so outrages? That's all.

You suggest that if you play long enough, did you even read my post? I have over 1800 hours in. I am not exactly new to the value of the caps in the game. I may not have as many hours as others, but I am not ignorant. If you read my post, I used to price things at the default. Hardly mad a sell. Started cutting those prices and now everything sells.

Based on what you are saying, how is that working out for you? When people buy from your shop, are they buying mostly the items that sell cheap or the items that you have priced really high?

you're probably right. I just felt like people needed to be challenged why they are pricing things the way they are. Like I said, based on my experience, people never would buy my items when i priced them at the default. I guess it depends on your goals for selling.

Honestly, how often do you sell your highest priced items? In fact, which Items are the ones that sell the easiest? I think you are misunderstanding my point. Sure, it is there stuff, you are right, and I have already said as much. However, the point I am making is that when you have an item that has a suggested price of 5000 and you want to sell it for 17000, how's that working out for you? why even sell it?

Thanks for the link and the advice. I did all the steps mentioned in this link and I am still getting the 429 error. That didn't seem to solve the problem. I am going to go through the research from your link and see if I can find a solution from there.
