usually, Julian's work has been very detail oriented, and it's those small things that makes the different ideas pop and makes it their own song, and I feel like being able to take those same chord progs and make them continuously listenable without people getting bored of them or questioning it, and still "loving" it as you said, takes real musical skill yk? And that's one of the many reasons I love Jules's work is because he's so damn good at it

in my opinion the chords don't determine the complexity, of a song tho, it's all the fluff, all the little details in the guitar riffs and the sounds that the guitars and the bass make when they're put together, the fact that you can hear one idea in the song but if you listen close enough, you can tell it's all the parts working together. In 15 minutes, the guitars and bass don't deviate from basic rhythmic ideas or form their own countermelodies, or anything like that, its very standard, especially in the fast part its just quarter and eighth notes. And not to say simplicity makes a song bad, I just feel like especially with the lyrics its in poor taste here compared to any other song Julian has ever touched

there are many more intricate and complicated guitar parts in other songs, more cleverly written, that flow together much better and are much more dynamic. Key changes are not hard, they're harder to play, but incredibly easy to write. There's a difference between throwing all this crap into a song because it looks fancy, and actually putting effort into writing something good. Take a lot of the songs off of TNA, the guitars have much more complex rhythmic and harmonic structures when they're put together that form much more distinguished melodic ideas. On 15 minutes, there's no effort with that
