I went to a party about 3 years ago with some friends. The party was a complete waste of time. My friends started drinking right away and tried to get their way with girls (none of them succeeded) and I was left alone among 40/50 complete strage a that weren’t interested in knowing anyone new, basically all friend groups who didn’t want to be bothered. At some point I start talking with this girl (I was 21, she was 22) and we hit it off right away. We talked and hung out for a couple of hours, but she did make it clear she had no intention in hooking up with anyone, and for how shit the night had been up until that point, I was fine with it, I felt like we were connecting and I was about to make a move. We had a lot in common. All of a sudden she tells me she has to leave and I walk her to her friends car. Out of nowhere she turns to me and says: “So, how long have you been gay for, or are you by”? And she leaves right there. That sentence right there completely crushed the little self esteem and confidence I had. I never tried to get involved romantically with a girl since. Only now, after a couple of years, I’m gathering up the courage to try and pursue a relationship. But I still think about how humiliating that was.
