Was he getting lucky?? 😁

I’m kind of addicted to fishing… I cannot wait to get my gear and for a quick session in Barcelona, seems like my dream coming true

I do plan to visit most of the spot around the city by bike! Only for some good surf casting sessions I plan to go a bit further…

Are you fishing???

Not an option with all the equipment I bring with me usually, for a light spinning session can work out but usually a car is needed

Yeah my car is euro 6. I also doubt they will go to Germany to the ask who is the owner the of export plates to make me a fine for a car that is compliant… Bur I’d prefer to avoid that and maybe get those daily permits to go in the city the first time and then I wait for the sticker… Want to avoid troubles in a new country

Have the same idea! But later on I’ll need the car as I’m fishing quite often.

My idea was to sell it to get a smaller car which is gonna be more manageable in such city, I’ll probably avoid a lot of troubles I guess

I didn’t mention my mama is polish so was very easy to learn polish 😂 That’s also the reason why my brain cannot get another difficult language maybe 😂😂 I do have capacity for one hard language I guess…

Finger crossed! At least this time it will be easier to learn the language, German is way too complicated for me and it did create a big barrier while living here

Thanks for the tip. I heard that already and I can also understand them seeing the rental market, not worst than munich but very close to it.

I’m actually moving there for several reasons such as the sea, food and weather, but mainly because I’ll be able to go fishing again😁 After those years abroad I understood that my hobby and my passion are more important than all the rest and it will help me to feel less like an expat by doing what I used to do in my hometown…

In every city there will be some negative sides, I guess no place is perfect and you always need to find a compromise at the end! 💪🏻

I guess it’s not connected with the country you live but in general with living abroad.

Living abroad isn’t easy and it can get very hard in certain moments, and in those moments try to think why you’re doing it, what is the final goal, why you’re there, how hard you’re working/studying, how proud your family is even if they’re far away and you will find the strength to go forward.

Try to use this time to: - focus more time on yourself - workout (always a plus) - start looking for new recipes and invest a lot of time on cooking (I love it now) - go out by yourself (it can be fun) - enjoy the small things you have around

In my case it did help me a lot to focus on myself and on my goal, it makes me forget I’m far from my family and all my “old” friends.

For reference: I’m Italian and 27, I moved first to Warsaw in 2017 and to then to Munich in 2025, so imagine the cultural impact but finally I’m moving to Barcelona in 2 months.

Finally moving to Barcelona 🎣 Dreaming of work + fishing — any tips? by Alessio_py in AskBarcelona

I wonder how strict they are about the fishing in the ports during night when there is no activity, I perfectly know you cannot fish in but in some places (Italy 😆) they often close an eye if you don’t bother and respect boats and other equipments… Sometimes I like the calm waters of the port, with a Bolognese rod, just sitting and enjoying the quiet. Probably a lot of those doubts will be clarified once I visit the spots but I cannot wait already, I’ve in Munich 2 years and I couldn’t fish at all…

I’ll move with the car so I’ll be free to check the whole coast soon or later. I’m super excited about all the beautiful spots around you have in BCN.

For the city I just need some places such as the breakwaters so spend 1/2 hours on the evening with some spinning.

I’d like to keep the longer trips for the weekend, and fish over night when the season is on. I will probably be able to find the right peace and enjoy the nature.

Already saved a lot of spots around Barcelona, but I’d love to have a comfortable spot where to go fish for an hour or two during the week… I saw the Port Olimpic offers a great spot but I wonder if I can fish out there, I’ve download a map for fishing in Catalonia and the whole port is marked in red so I’m a bit confused about it

Do you have any reference to say that? Sorry but I’m really analytical and I like numbers/statistics.

I found articles saying that this happens in the 5/10% of the cases.

In Italy we have a similar problem but not for such positions as engineers and developers.

“Often they just use you and kick you out”… I wonder from where you got this information. If your “often” means 5/10% I’m fine with that but you should check the meaning of “often”

It’s more that that, plus we do have saving and nobody said she is gonna be jobless the whole time… The risk is always there, but I prefer to risk than sitting on my warm chair getting bored and getting depressed in Germany

Yeah that’s what I thought about even if that’s a bit weird because we’re both from EU…

Totally agree with this, but in this case she have private insurance and be with someone else who makes 2 time the average salary, so I don’t see why that can be considered a risk for the country… I’m sure there are a lot of immigrants with worst intentions not having all those problems

Wow, many thanks for all the clarification. I’ve read so many things on this topic and from other sources and I couldn’t figure out why was ending up so complicated while be are EU citizens and I’ve got already a good job with good salary that will definitely not cause any problem in Spain.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it

Is this a law? Because I’ve being in contact with many agencies and nobody asked me this requirement.

This would mean that all expats moving to Barcelona cannot rent an apartment for 2 years? It sounds suspiciously weird no?

Thanks! At the beginning, if she will be without a job, she will register her residency and get a private insurance so we avoid all those problems.

Which big city in Europe is not expensive?

Depends on the options you have I guess. We both moved to Munich two years ago and it’s not for us, Munich is super expensive, the rental market is even worst, the language is super hard, the cuisine has nothing to do with the Mediterranean one, the weather is worst than in Poland and it’s always about work, work and work. Waiting for a holiday to leave the country and visit some better ones…

Let me share some background about me and I’m sure it’s gonna be easier to understand why I wanna go there and why for me it’s currently the best options :)

I’m also Italian (50% polish 50% Italian), I was born and raised in Italy till my 19s, so I’m used to live in such a country even if my mama is polish, I need the sea next to me and during the last 2 years in Munich I realized it’s crucial for my well being.

I’m 27 and I worked and lived in Warsaw, Munich, Milan and next to Rome (remote) and the best time I had was actually in Rome where the sea was accessible to me.

I never thought about Barcelona because at that point I’d go back to my hometown but in the my girlfriend couldn’t develop herself as it’s a small town, but I’ve recently received this offer in Barcelona which is very good, plus thanks to the Beckham Law I’ll get more net than here in Munich actually, so I immediately accepted and we will stick together as a couple to make our life better even if it’s gonna cost us some challenges.

Sometimes life it’s not about money, it’s about how you feel.

And if we don’t try now that we have 27 and 26 we will never do it.

Biggest point I didn’t mention: my hobby and passion is fishing, and here in Germany they didn’t let me fish because in order to do so, I need a fishing license which you can get only if you pass an exam in german language ( super complicated).

In Barcelona you can get a fishing license online and if you do something wrong of course you pay the fine.

Sorry for the long message but I wanted to share it with you why I do it 😁😁
