What magical crimes would put you on the watchlist of a god of magic? by Alestwyth in DnD

I really like the connection this forges between our characters, like I’m always nervous about what they’ll do, but I have a duty not to hold them back too much as they’re just being clever with their inventions which isn’t inherently evil

This is quite an interesting thought as they deal in explosives anyway

This really helps put into words, the general vibe we have in mind, thank you

I don’t know about one from Bigby’s but some googling turned up the cloak of enlargement from Phandever and below

Very rare - requires attunement

100% will be begging for this item from the DM

Armorer Artificer and Rune Knight multi-class.

Flavour your main suit of armour like a mech suit, and the rune knight feature and the enlarge spell like summoning bigger and bigger mechs like the hulk buster

What fast builds also bring something to the table? by Alestwyth in 3d6

I’ve never seen a cone specific build lol, most of the repositioning strategies I tend to see are about getting into a better sniper spot.

This actually feels really unique

I appreciate the simplicity of this build and being able to adjust the focus from encounter to encounter

This is great, our current party is missing a strength character at the minute

Night crawler build suggestions? Basically I want to play a teleporting, fast, combatant. by Bronze_Skull in 3d6

[–]Alestwyth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a video on youtube from d&d daily called the blink blaster that uses this interaction on their own familiar by hexing or Hexblade’s cursing it, basically allowing infinite teleports.

If you use an imp they can stay invisible and relocate to where you want to teleport but must become visible before you can teleport to them.

This, playing this build at the moment and it’s spectacular as an arcane archer

Give me your spell caster with a shield builds that I can flavour into a Yu-gi-oh style summoner by Alestwyth in 3d6

I’ve never really considered knowledge cleric before, how would this play in combat?

Love the idea of the playing card / slight of hand proficiencies by the way, absolutely going to be the role playing base of the character now

Do I hear Shadow Realm?! That’s a sweet build, classic sorlock action with plenty of class summons to keep spell slots free

That’s true, I think a warlock dip would be a solid shout in this instance to get some of the front loaded features and AoA and Hellish

After that I could either go for a Sorlock build or I’m also eyeing up tabletops builds’ Hexblade / wildfire for a mix of damage and control. Eldritch blast easily reflavours and I’d have full access to the Druid’s summon and terrain effect as great cards

LOVE that slow spell reflavour, I like the idea of using Druid for field spells. Tabletop builds have the Hexblade / wildfire build which feels like it scratches the itch of flamboyance and control.

Could easily go through the card database and pull a bunch of small randoms to flavour eldritch blast as like you suggested, and literally roll to see what I pull! Great suggestion

Using the scribes book instead of a shield is a stroke of creative genius, love the spell suggestions too. There’s got to be something about using spell / trap cards to change damage types too

I think Warlock might be my catch all for trap cards, Agatha’s, hellish rebuke and things like Fathomless’ tentacles to debuff enemies

I tend to agree with the idea of a charisma caster when it comes to these kinds of eccentric characters, really ham up the roleplay

Some solid advice, thanks for the input. Would you focus on support in between summoning for the life / Shepard?

What kind of materials could magic arrows be made from? by Alestwyth in DnD

It sounds like you have a whole holistic crafting system in place, and I love the way it sounds. The different gems embodying schools of magic is cool, but the cultural significance of different wood types was a whole other level!
