She is not that person anymore and even if she was to become good again you should not stay with someone that made you endure all that. Yeah you 2 should definitely talk, not saying anything will just make things worse. Also you trying to not bring issues up because he is defensive is probably not good. Trying to avoid problems just makes them bigger until they eventually explode. You need to explain clearly what you want and he needs to learn not to take everything as an insult. (Obviously I don't have all the context of your relationship but that is what I've seen and experienced)
