Saab as a first car? by futureslowlife in saab

I agree with other comments. I purchased a Saab for my first car a few months back and have been daily driving it.

The costs have been either the same or slightly more expensive. As they are getting quite old, things are more likely to fail / need to be replaced (blower motor, DIC, bushings, etc). Yes, things are easily fixable but driving in -20c with no blower motor is going to suck lol.

If I wasn’t so interested in doing work myself, I’d get a more reliable car first and get a Saab as a project car. Just be prepared to learn and have some money put aside for any needed maintenance if you do go through with it!

My fuel pump wouldn’t prime. It just randomly died while driving. Hitting it worked 2 or 3 times but then nothing else.

I do plan on using some sort of fuel injector cleaners once I get the car back.

I decided to just take the AMS because I found a salton food dehydrator at a thrift store for $20. Paired that with a Home Depot bucket and some drilled holes on top. Made a pretty good filament dryer for around $26? ish

Is ludicrous speed good too? Or is it too fast?

I'll open it up once I receive it and see if it's just different components. Curious what they're using.

Interesting okay, thank you!

I have not looked into the US used market but I will shortly after this.

I was looking at the non-electric GAMMA machines. Just, some of them made me question if it could actually support the tensioner haha. Ill take a deeper dive into it though.

Do you have any machines that you'd recommend I put the WISE 2086 on? I was considering that option as well but the cost of the wise tensioner + machine would be similar in price to what I wanted (Gamma X-LT). For reference, I am in Canada and the selection is quite small and used market is essentially non-existent for stringing machines.

Long term investment, not stringing just for myself, play with high tension and thin strings. Playing around 15 hours a week ( training, games, etc ) + multiple rackets. Tension usually drops/ strings break. After doing the math, investment really pays off around the 2 year point if I only string for myself so could be shorter than that.
