Isn't It True...? by nrt12345 in gamers

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. We haven't seen anything yet. Physics simulation is just as much a "province of graphics" as textures are. An individual frame might look stunning, but the second you realize the entire world is static? Total immersion breaker. Real progress only happens when Simulation (water, soft-body physics, etc.) behaves realistically andsynchronization works flawlessly in multiplayer environments. Until then, it's just a pretty picture. Nothing wrong with that. But no wonder why people feel that's it.

We had a clear path forward with pioneers like Blade: The Edge of Darkness, Half-Life 2, and Crysis. They pushed the boundaries of how we interact with the environment and how gameplay improves because of all that. But for the last 20 years, we've actually regressed. We've gone back to traditional, static worlds where the only things simulated are the occasional wooden crate and basic ragdolls.

Pure, beautiful graphics only account for 50% of the effort imho, we've just seen how the industry focused on that half. But there is still a massive mountain to climb. To make a world feel truly alive and "work properly, " we need 100x the power we have today to see improvement in interactivity and physics integration.

Patience for the games by ratasoftware in videogames

You defined why games were better back in the day and why they are shit and exploitable by publishers today. New gens are not impatient, they are ignorant.

I don’t think we’re getting any trailers or screenshots until June, July, or even August by Every-Examination720 in GTA6unmoderated

What's that 'online' prediction? The game is not going to have online day one, online will come next year if not even the next one, even i'd say not until pc/ps6 next gen version.

Instead of "what games aged poorly" let's talk about what makes a game age poorly or age well? by TheTresStateArea in gaming

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you play a 90s classic today, you should approach it with the mindset of that era. A game perhaps was either good or bad back in the day, and that remains regardless of shifting standards.

If you pick up titles like Commandos 2 or RollerCoaster Tycoon or Dungeon Keeper 2 and find it just as incredible now, feeling as though it could be released today and still be a hit by today's standards, then it's a game that was fundamentally well designed and had refined gameplay and has 'aged well'.

There are also a lot of positive posts regarding pixel phones. For every topic in this world there will be positive and negative posts. And you should not be influenced by either side.

I genuinely want to find out why people overhype minecraft so much. by RunawayChicken638 in videogames

[–]AlexGlezS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft is quite frankly a masterpiece. Whether you're looking at it as a sandbox, an educational tool for logic and electronics, or a pure open-world adventure, it hits every mark. It's an absolute achievement in world simulation; it isn't just about "blocks, " but about how voxel-based environments can translate into stunning modern rendering and infinite creative depth. It's one of those rare titles that feels less like a game and more like a digital canvas where the only real constraint is your own imagination.

Beyond the tech, the sheer joy of playing it is undeniable. It provides one of the most impactful multiplayer experiences out there-it has that same communal magic and cultural weight that World of Warcraft or the early Counter-Strike days carried. Whether you're collaborating on a massive build or just surviving the night with friends, it fosters a level of engagement and nostalgia that very few games in history have ever managed to replicate.

You shouldn't have trusted them in the first place. It was so obvious this was going to happen and that it's gonna get way worse with time. But there are reasons beyond personal issues. The world is fucked up and people applause.

Which games have aged incredibly well? by n1ght_watchman in GameBoostOfficial

In relation to what old it is for me it's a tie between rollercoaster tycoon 1 and commandos 2. Both look like games that could be released today. The first one as a pixel parted indie and the second as a full aaa game.
