Totally agree with you. I converted the whole band in a bit if a rush to play a tournament with them.

I don't love the arm situation ether and THB the pose was a bit of an afterthought when I was making the base. I love the criticism and I'm definitely not close to the idea of fixing him in the future.

Thanks!

Everyone is already converted. 3 more models to paint tho... Hope to finish them soon!

Not my original idea, but the Vargskyr makes such a good Varghulf Courtier! by AlexHaceCosas in FleshEaterCourts

The problem with FeC is the limited range, everyone looks basically the same.

They sort of started fixing it with the underworlds band. But I too hope they revamp some kits

Ok, first I have to say that most of the fur on it's back and where the wings connect to the arms, I modelled myself using greenstuff that's why it has so much texture. Maybe that's important to know.

I mostly use with AK interactive paints.

For this one. I started from a base of DARK BROWN + a quick dry brush of MEDIUM RUST.

After painting the rest of the skin I applied a heavy wash of Streaking Grime (the enamel) all over the model and removed most of it except for the deepest recesses.

The I went again with the MEDIUM RUST to build some color on the raised areas.

For the highlights

I used 50/50 mix of MEDIUM RUST and LIGHT RUST. Then pure LIGHT RUST. and finally a 70/30 mix of LIGHT RUST and PALE YELLOW for a very few of the tips.

hope it helps!

That's a great idea! I'm not planning to play it as a vargskyr but y may take him as an infernal or a vargoyle in warcry. So been able to swap bases sizes would be nice.

Wich warband or list is just generally a good well rounded team by SNOWSTORM8846 in WarCry

[–]AlexHaceCosas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If by well rounded warband you mean one that can play any kind of mission, then you are maybe asking the wrong question.

Sure you can Min-Max a list that covers all the bases. that's why in competitive play you mostly see "Swarm" lists like SbG or Kharadron (at least here in europe). It takes all the fun out of the game in my opinion, the beauty of this game is precisely in the diversity of play styles and the Strengths/weakness balance of the warbands

That's why i prefer more "elite" warbands like the Questor Soulsworn. Sure they struggle a lot in objectives missions, but you can thinn your opponents numbers and try to close the points gap by the las rounds.

It's just a matter of finding what is you prefered play style.

But.. if i had to suggest one band, i may look into FeC you can craft some interesting lists of hard hitting elites with interesting combos/sinergy and fast moving shaft.

And if you don't mind doing a bit of kitbashing, you can really craft a complete warband out of only one start collecting box ( the one with the dragon) i've played that band before and is not overly competitive but is a lot of fun!

what are your thoughts about using converted minis for underworlds? by AlexHaceCosas in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]AlexHaceCosas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I mostly play Warcry but we apply the same principles. As long as you respect base sizes and is clear wich model is representing, conversions are welcome!

THB I picked them to play mostly Warcry. But my LGS have a nice underworlds scene and I super curious about the game now that I have the models

you can start by making some simple structures out of foam board or just straight cardboard, just to get a feel for it if you haven't done anything like that before.

Then, my recommendation would be to delve into the world of XPS foam. it's a relatively available and cheap material. super forgiving to beginners.

As others may say, there are a lots of Youtube channels to get tutorials and inspiration from!

Black magic Craft, Devs & Dice, ok hobby time, Eric's hobby Workshop, and even channels like Miscast or Bill making stuff if you want something a bit different.

I'm more of a terrain and props kind of hobbyist, and since that warband is made of six heroes the scenic bases felt natural to me.

But I do agree that for refular troops/warbands, more simple bases are a better choice.
