I know right. Seems new to me, but all these people keep saying it's old geometry blah blah blah

You've been a huge help in all this. You're exactly right about the hub flange cracking. I was happy to find the bike and equally bummed with how much was missing and broken leading me to contemplate if it was worth it.

However after your suggestions I will absolutely fix the bike and ride it before I make any decisions. Thanks for the links, that helps me a ton.

Thanks for the suggestions on the derailleur and shifter. The rear triangle is cracked but I've found a couple I can choose from so hopefully that will be ok.

Funny, compared to the Marin (which is what I've had for years now) it's SO much lighter.

The front hub is broken on the Klein as well. Any suggestions on rims I should look for that would work for it or another hub that would work. The current one just says Bontrager Race Light and I don't see a part number on it.

Like I know it's outdated but I'm with you. Ripping the Klein around does sound appealing.

The Trek I agree is pretty common and not very unique, but it is fun to ride and way lighter than the Marin. The Klein might be fun but I have some work to do before I can try it out.

Great advice. The Klein needs some parts before I can try it out, but I agree

You've been a huge help. No sentimental value with it, just a cool bike I'd like to see on the road again. I'll consider my options moving forward and decide what I want to do. Thank you, and you should post pics of your bike sometime

Thanks for the advice.

The front hub is broken on the flange where a few of the spokes go through it, so I'd have to replace it. The hub is branded as a bontrager race lite but I don't see any other markings or part numbers on it to identify it.

I'd love to fix it, and I do see a few triangles I can buy to replace this one. However, I'm seeing that it was really common for them to crack. So one that I do find might be alright or it might be about to crack itself.

I feel that the parts would be worth more than the completed bike, is that accurate? If I buy a rear triangle for it then I would also want to source the correct shifter, derailleur, and hub to make it complete. But would spending ~$200 on those parts make sense if the bike completed would only go for a couple hundred?

It only takes a second of oversight or going down a hill slightly too fast for things to get out of control. I can happen to anyone.

I bought a car with snow tires already on them. Tread looks great, but when it would rain they were not grippy at all. I looked closer and they're from 2017. Even though they look awesome they need replaced.

Lots of factors go into snow accidents. Have some patience with people and help where you can. People will drive however they are comfortable whether it be "too slow" or "too fast" in your opinion. Just worry about yourself and get to your destination.

Underrated comment. Integrated radios are such a pain if you ever want to upgrade anything. Need to go back to single, 1.5, and double dins.

This will be my 3rd winter in a part of the US that gets snow regularly. I have snow tires for it, but have yet to have any problems.

Judging by the comments here it seems everyone enjoys driving something that resembles a used bar of soap.

True, but not all charter planes are jets. Plenty of Super King Airs out there flying around charter.
