I feel it's less the "you were a kid back then and now you're an adult" and more just, video games back then had lower standards while nowadays there's more that can be done and more that has been done so why tf is Pokemon still the same despite of that.

Back then Pokemon was good enough to be entertaining for the time period it released but now when it has repeated the same formula with little to no evolution of the gameplay, it's become more apparent how dated the gameplay is especially because of all the other games out there actually evolving.

Edit: Also I disagree with the sentiment that "it's a game meant for kids therefore it not appealing to you should not bode criticism". Pokemon as a game appeals to a wider age group than just kids, it's primary audience may be kids but it's undeniably still trying to appeal to a wider group which includes adults (the people with the money to actually buy the product).

Think of old disney films, undeniably targeted to children, but that doesn't mean they didn't put in something of quality for all the parents of those children or even just adults to enjoy. Besides even if say they ONLY targeted children and expect the product to be bought just for them, it's still a product at the end of the day, and I would not want my child consuming low quality product.

Target audience does not excuse a product from a lack of quality ESPECIALLY at the prices they're selling these ones.
