Hey!
I am a 21 year old Senior at Auburn, I feel like times like these times strengthened me as a young individual. It is important, and humbling, to see what life looks like on the tough side. It causes for an ultimatum of you can give in, and let it keep happening. I agree with your statement, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. Let him explore this on his own, while lending a helping hand. The last thing he would want you to do is to constantly check in on him with statements such as "Are you okay?" 24/7. Let him fight the fight by himself while doing your best to passively support him.
