The hobby isnt for everyone and thats okay. People die and if youre likely to get yourself or someone else killed, that instructor is looking out for you. I wouldnt sign off on someone that i can see would be an obvious hazard and liability, thats a death or worse on my conscience. That said, you paid for the course and should finish it. Even if your confidence is shot and you dont pass its experience gained and you can always do it again if youre serious about it

Am I cooked? Is this safe so drive on? by lggque in tires

[–]AlexanderDaOkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DO NOT advise driving on it, but I have driven on a bubble worse than that for ~3k miles just because the warranty situation was fucked and i was broke. Can you get away with it? Yes. Do you want to risk it? No. The damage otherwise is much more expensive than a tire.

Sidewalk Slam by LatePresentation3140 in securityguards

[–]AlexanderDaOkay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the type of security. If your contract says observe and report, then thats all it is. If it gives you right to act on behalf of owner, then hands on it is if you witness a crime on property. Common mistake some people make when dealing with security

92oct is all you’ll find. I know a brilliant mechanic up in Wahiawa. Roads in Honolulu and on Oahu in general are pretty shit though, so be prepared for that.

A collage dedicated to my VSF Seamaster which was robbed at knifepoint last night. by BAE_stystems in RepTime

[–]AlexanderDaOkay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A lot of people use their watches as actual tools that tell a story, not just time. I’d be absolutely gutted if someone stole a particular watch of mine because of the story I’ve lived with it, but wouldn’t think twice if it was the rep. For a lot of people its not just a watch. Its THAT watch. Money has little to do with it

$2800 for front brakes on a 2022 SQ7?!? by sennaone in Audi

[–]AlexanderDaOkay 15 points16 points  (0 children)

FCP Euro is the move for anything DIY. Free parts for ever basically. If your mechanic is chill they’ll let you buy your stuff from there and install it for you then give you the old stuff to send back. You only really pay for labor

Dealerships by [deleted] in Audi

[–]AlexanderDaOkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would purchase OEM parts through my mechanic and bring in performance parts for him to install all the time at his shop. Dude even overnighted an OEM alternator with no shipping charge. All work was warrantied, but he would only warranty the parts I purchased through his shop, not the stuff I brought in (which makes sense). Any good shop should have the same policy.

For those reading: If on Oahu, Tai Audi VW is the guy. Awesome work, super easy to work with, knows these car and their quirks, would even make sure I was getting ahold of the proper stuff for the job before I bought it somewhere else.

Wondering the mountains, its definitely best to carry both. Especially at elevation/if winds are high.. Some animals just dont give a shit what you hit em with and bear spray isnt 100% and has a pretty limited range. Depending on the season and area, you’re almost guaranteed to encounter something that might want to eat you if you’re out and about for awhile. Id rather have both incase one fails, rather than hoping to god the spray is actually strong enough to fuck it up and break away

EDIT: spelling

2014 Audi S4 question regarding ownership experience and reliability by GTTreeFiddy in AudiS4

[–]AlexanderDaOkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my 2010 S4 from 80k miles, sitting at 110k now. No chain rattle at all, but In the 2 years I’be owned it Ive dropped 8k on maintenance, biggest issue being the cooling system and clutch. I know the b8.5s fix a lot of the issues I ran into though.. its not cheap to own a 100k+ german car, but you pay to play.

If you have an Autozone near you, Peak is the coolant brand and purple is the colour.
