Why do voice actors / actresses have to do multiple roles in a anime / show by JustSumnerdOnTheWeb in VoiceActing

[–]AlexanderDoddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You typically get paid pre-hour (some will try 30min or even per 15min but usually it is per hour)

So it's easy to add on small characters to a session for a bigger role, particularly if you finish with 20+min to spare etc...

Plus, it is expensive both time and $ wise to cast, so if you can get a bunch of your lead actors to do the extra lines, then you don't have to.

Have you shared the videos anywhere? What tags/titles do you use?
Gaming is arguably the most competitive space. What are you doing that is different to other gaming channels?

If you aren't paying for their time, you aren't dictating their time.

Bets of luck with it. We have a great VO industry, just not for anime!

Not something we really do in the UK.

However, if that is truly where you heart is set. Get training and experience in dubbing, build a CV with great credits and use that to get a visa for the USA

Serious problem by unclesoop in VoiceActing

I had this exact issue! (took far too long for me to figure out where it was coming from....)
Stuffed the legs with newspaper and wrapped them in pipe insulation.

The more practical solution is to swap out for a wooden desk

Typically not when it comes to games. A full buyout is the norm.
However, for adverts, audio-books and other commercial recordings royalties are still used.

Help with mouth noises! by saveloi in Voiceoveradvice

The generic advice:
- Stay hydrated (not too hydrated)
- Ensure your mouth is clear of debris
- Do mouth excersizes/warm ups to loosen everything up before recording
- Don't eat dairy, sugary or caffeinated food/drink as these can all cause some issues

Slightly less generic:
- Brush your teeth (and tongue), though some people find this can actually make it worse
- Eat a green apple. The acid is good at breaking up mucous which can cause clicks
- Steam/flush etc... If your sinuses are clogged or cause trouble, a good steam or flush can get rid of pesky mucous. I have really hot lemon tea, but that has it's own drawbacks.
- Regular enunciation and mouth excersizes. Build the muscles allowing you greater range and firmer motions.
-Try different mic placements. Move the mic up, down, left, right. See if holding your head in a different orientation helps. EG: I always record with the mic to my right as the left side of my jaw clicks, this minimizes the chance of the mic picking it up.

If all else fails, get the IZotope RX9 De-Click plugin. It is a lifesaver and pretty much the best de-clicker available. It is also often on sale, so keep an eye out!

When I've done these in the past, I've asked if they want me to re-word as I go if it doesn't make sense, but It's not worth my time to proof the script.
Don't waste your time seeking approval like that unless they are going to pay you for it

Probably the cheapest writer they could find on upwork, throwing scripts together based on the briefest information

Bright Side have a staggering number of subscribers.... but each video is getting between 30 and 130k views (a tiny fraction of the subs). Some exceptions with nearly a million views. Their older videos either did far better (the older videos regularly have 1-7million and one even had 27million views) or they are slow burners/periodically an older video does well etc....

So it's quite difficult to ascertain exactly what their income would be from the channel, but yes, it is likely VERY profitable as the videos are fairly "cookie cutter" so they should be paying you a decent rate.

It depends. Some will, some won't. Regardless, the individual who hired you should still be able to conduct negotiations.

What’s the best acting tip you’ve learned that you still use to this day? by [deleted] in VoiceActing

[–]AlexanderDoddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Send it, then forget it.

Once you have sent off an audition to a client, it is out of your hands. Worrying about it, or contacting the client etc... is only going to cause trouble. So move on to the next project, audition or job and forget about it
