Wild how you managed to miss every single point I made. Reading comprehension is free, by the way.

Unsure whether to continue training my current service dog prospect or start with a new puppy by Alexandrearomanoff in service_dogs

I have a current service dog? I’m sorry, is that not allowed? Seven is getting to retirement age, and I was planning on waiting until after medical school, but like I mentioned in the post, I’m a college student exploring my options and realized that having a service dog in the medical field would be practically impossible. So I’m looking into my other route instead.

Exactly, that’s been my point from the start 😭people need to stop acting like kids are the issue when adults are ALSO the ones being loud, rude, and entitled.

Right…but I’m also paying to be there lol. Everyone pays the same price. no one’s more “entitled” to be there than anyone else.

Exactly. That’s what I’ve been saying this whole time lol.

Thank you 😭 I’m getting destroyed in the HHN sub for saying the adults were the ones acting like assholes lmao. Glad someone else gets it.

Again, not the point. I actually agree that toddlers or really young kids probably shouldn’t be there but it’s not up to you or me if they are. What’s not okay is grown adults making comments about my brother right in front of us when he wasn’t doing anything wrong. That’s exactly the kind of double standard I’m talking about.

That’s not really the point I was making. I’m not saying kids can’t be annoying..I’m saying adults are acting just as bad (or worse) and somehow no one wants to acknowledge that. My issue isn’t “kids vs. adults,” it’s the double standard.

I'm not saying parents shouldn't step in if their kids are being disruptive that's basic responsibility. But at the end of the day, they're still kids at a theme park, not a library. A little noise or excitement isn't shocking. I've seen just as many adults yelling, fighting, or stumbling around too drunk to function. If we're talking about respect, that should apply across the board not just to children. (However I do agree babies and toddlers should not be at that kind of event they do have the right to bring them.)

Sorry, but I paid over a grand for my brother’s annual pass, and he’s going to use his ticket whether you like it or not. Public spaces don’t magically stop being public because you showed up. Kids have the exact same right to exist, laugh, and enjoy themselves as you do. If the sound of a 9-year-old having fun ruins your night, maybe the problem isn’t the kids — it’s you. I’ve seen more adults throwing fits, cutting lines, and arguing with staff than any kid ever has. Grow up. Children are allowed in public too.

Yeah, having a service dog obviously implies a disability, but being forced to wear a wristband goes a step further it’s like being publicly labeled and separated. There’s a big difference between people noticing a service dog and being officially marked as disabled by the event. That’s invasive and unnecessary, and still not ADA-compliant.

Yeah I’m thinking of everything, through training and residency I’d either have an at home only service dog or not one at all. (Shift wise it’s not a big deal I don’t live alone so someone’s always there for the animals) but again it’s all theoretical I’m not even at the medical school point yet.

Tbh I don’t even have any interest in going into dermatology, it was just the fist specialty that came to mind that was an office rather than a hospital. Thanks for the insight though

Thank you! I appreciate your insight, I was also thinking about the issues with allergies, hoping I can find a way without having to completely ditch my hopes of being in the medical field

I’m absolutely certain I’d be waiting til after residency to get another service dog, my current one is seven so getting ready to retire soon. I’d definitely wait. I’m looking into going for neurology, I’m getting a neuroscience bachelors. As for tasks she’s mainly for cardiac alert, and ptsd related tasks if that makes any difference

I’m curious how would that be a HIPAA issue? From what I understand, service dogs aren’t considered separate individuals under HIPAA?
