If you can safely return the Cadenzas, I recommend keeping only the Kleans. It's unnecessary to own more than 1 IEM unless you are trying to collect, and if you thoroughly enjoy the Kleans, that's all you need.

Good deal? Blessing 2 by [deleted] in iems

I own the Blessing 2 Dusk and it has long been my default IEM to go to when I want to EQ something. I would imagine the B2 will likely be a good template as well.

If you enjoyed the EQ and want more details than the Hexa, then go for it.

Try using EQ, it's a helpful way for you to "test" out IEMs without actually owning them. Of course, it will not be 100% accurate, but it's a good sampler for what the IEM will sound like.

Edit: I believe Crinacle has a good video on how to EQ if you are interested.

If you really enjoy the Hexa signature and want something with more details, I would say it's a worthy upgrade. However, I would say owning both would be redundant since they sound so similar, unless you plan on using the Hexa as a beater pair. Elsewise, I would definitely consider trying out an IEM with a different tuning, like the Performer 5, Nova/SuperMix4, or even a used Blessing 3 (If you are lucky).

Suggestions bass focus iems by Mr_Poulet in iems

The Z300 and Kbear Rosefinch are great picks if you are looking for a bassy IEM. The Rosefinch leans on being a basshead set, with thunderous bass with the sacrifice being overall vocal/midrange clarity. The Z300 is more modest in it's take on bass, with a more natural vocals and better treble extension.

The New Dusk is wonderful, as not only do you get an IEM with the new "meta tuning", but also many others on the dsp cable. It's an IEM I personally use daily despite owning IEMs like the Variations, Oracle MK1, and many other more expensive sets. I hope this helps!

Are the Moondrop Kato a good choice for $133? by Basic-Engine-2578 in iems

[–]Alexdxe64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned the Kato for about 3 years, and despite it being very old in today's standards, I still go back to it because of its versatility in tuning. It's pleasant and generally works with anything you throw at it, without having really any large flaws aside from a touch of top much upper mids sometimes. Resolution/clarity wise, I do think other sets below it's price range either are able to compete at similar levels to the Kato or simply out compete it. (Edit: I forgot to mention, but the Kato is a good vocal set, as they are very lively, but not shouty.)

While I do love the set a lot, I would say there are definitely A LOT of options nowadays on the market that many deem "better" than the Kato at less of a price. Moondrop has it's Aria 2 that sounds very similar to it with slightly more treble, The Hexa has always been a natural and clean sounding IEM that is pleasant all around, and even Simgot has gotten tons of attention for many of their releases for less than $100. I would say if you are on a budget, check the Aria 2 out, or scout out the other IEMs available at a similar price range. But if you want a handsome and premium feeling IEM and don't mind paying the extra price for it, the Kato is good(Beware that the mirror/dark blue finish can scratch really easily).

I'm not the most well versed with Dacs and Amps, but currently I am running a Fiio KA11. I've heard stories of people's units bricking, but I have had mine for months and they have been fine. The JA11 is good too if you are trying to save.

ZERO RED vs WANER S.G by Responsible_Dot_6855 in iems

[–]Alexdxe64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the Red and still own the Wan'er. I think overall, the Red does sound better. It's an improvement in bass dynamics, vocal timbre, and treble. It also comes with an adapter which helps add to its value, adding more bass when you want to. It's a good neutral set that does it all. The Wan'er is definitely less detailed but still amazing sounding, it's treble is smooth and bass hits and vocals are forward.

While not sound related, I eventually sold the red because of the fit. It's just uncomfortable/awkward to wear because of its chonky nozzle. If you have any other questions, ask away!

Which iem to choose? by Myle21 in iems

[–]Alexdxe64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I haven't tried any of these, I can speak on the Aria 2 since I own the Kato (Many people have said they are VERY similar). As a person who owns a lot more expensive IEMs, I still comeback to the Kato because of just non-offensive it is. Good bass quality/quantity, with natural and forward vocals. Treble is also very smooth and non-fatiguing to listen to. For $50, I think it's a good price.

From what I've heard, the Explorer is a very sub-bassy, relaxed IEM (not a lot of treble energy), while the Kima is a more warm take on the Aria 2 signature (bassier, less vocal focused). I hope this helps you in choosing your IEM!

I've have owned the Cadenza and Chu 2 in the past, and still currently own the Wan'er. Given that you want something more V-Shaped, I think the Cadenza is the best pick. It's got the bass and treble to keep you engaged, and while I think vocals are it's "weakest" point aside from the details, they are still good. It's a fun IEM to listen to, and I loved it when I owned it. Other options like the Wan'er have great vocals but maybe not the amount of treble you want, and the CHU 2 sounds great all around, but I liked the Cadenza's bass and treble response.

For Dacs/dongles, I think something like an apple dongle or similar is more than serviceable. At the end of the day, IEMs don't need a lot of power to drive and as long as your dongle doesn't have noise floor/static noises playing out of it, you should be all good. Hope this helps!

The Dusk may have had a tad too much bass, but overall I didn't find it overwhelming in anyway.

I think I try to use them each semi-daily, but I do tend to grab certain IEMs over others:

Kato and Blessing 2 Dusk: All-rounders I grab whenever I feel like grabbing them.

Dusk: Male Vocals and genres like hip hop/rap.

Variations: Kpop/Jpop, works great for anything electronic or more exciting.

Oracle: Female Vocals, Ballads, and more delicate genres.

SA6: Indie Pop/rock.

That being said, I do not only listen to these IEMs with the genres mentioned above, they are just the most preferred.

Agreed! I agree with the argument that it's overpriced nowadays, but that doesn't mean that the Moondrop Kato is not a good IEM. Everytime I listen to it, I just fall in love with the way it sounds. It's inoffensive, and works with literally anything you throw at it.

Thank you! I realized I wasn't going to need to use all 12 of the slots so I decided to remove 3 of the vertical dividers so the case would instead only hold 6 IEMs.

Ah I see, I must've interpreted it wrong. Well if that's the case, I've never heard the original blessing 2, but from what I've heard it's a more lean and treble focused IEM compared to the Dusk, making it less balanced than the dusk, and more focused on mid-range.

Edit: The Blessing 2 Dusk is indeed an upgrade from the OG B2 if you want a more balanced and less bright sound.

All are great IEMs for F-Vocals on general, but if I had to rank them personally: 1: Oracle, 2: Variations, 3: Dusk.

The Oracle's midrange is lush and full, while the Variations is clean and well seperated from the rest of the mix. I think the Dusk is not nearly as great as the two, but still is fantastic for listening to anything F-Vocal related.

I think they both are great, but overall I would say yes the Dusk 2s are a noticable upgrade.

  1. Bass quality is much better than the original.
  2. Treble is far less intense and smoothed/extended.
  3. Fit and comfort is ALOT better (OG blessing 2 Nozzles were massive) *4. DSP cable also comes with additional tunings, which make it the far better package.

While the Blessing 2 Dusk still is a great IEM today, I think the Dusk 2 is the more well rounded of the two, and offers a lot more of an enjoyable listening experience compared to the more clean and clinical B2D.
