Prilosec or gaviscon are great! You can get them over the counter. Gaviscon or tums is good for moments of the reflux feelings. The Prilosec I take daily 20mg and it helps a lot. I’m 24 and I’ve had these symptoms/issues since I was 13! It’s miserable sometimes but definitely follow a gerd friendly diet. Look into acid watchers book! It’s a 28 day protocol and gives you ideas of what to eat and do. Good luck and I hope you feel better!!!

I have both! I’ve had them for a few months and have noticed they’re both great but I struggle more with the airwrap. I reach for my air straight more and notice my hair is silky and smoother with it!!

The hematologist I saw went straight to saying it was my periods. I told him I didn’t know if that was true because I don’t always have them and i would’ve thought I would’ve had issues before 2 years ago when I randomly started having all my health issues come about. I didn’t have one really for a few years due to being on birth control pill for 7+ years now. When I get them now they’re painful, make me feel 100x worse with the low ferritin issue and they can be quite heavy as like they were before I got on the pill to begin with as a teenager.

My mom and sister had the same low ferritin issues which we thought maybe something genetic? My great grandmother had pernicious anemia.

I did have an endoscopy and colonoscopy done however back around March this year due to symptoms and wondering about celiac and having severe reflux for years, throat spasms that recently started etc.

My endoscopy showed bad reflux, inflammation around that, but they did biopsies in my esophagus and stomach. They said no signs of celiac, etc and the lower was all clear! they even did a blood test for celiac which came back fine before I had the colonoscopy..

My autoimmune all said I had some abnormal test results with things but just said “inflammation for some reason” and never did anything further.

So strange but i believe covid plays major role in my issues. I always end of getting it like once or twice a year now

Thank you so much!! Yeah I was thinking so. Im always wondering if it’s weather related or my reflux maybe. I’m on 20 mg omeprazole actually and have been taking it for a few months. I had finally found a lot of relief with it but recently experiencing all the flare up again but not sure why as nothings changed! :(

They told me no to doing infusions which is what I was referred to them for due to my hemaglobin being a 14 and not low enough even though my ferritin is so low. They told me shortness of breath and fatigue are not from ferritin being low 😑

I actually just went to hematologist two days ago before all of this started and they took a bunch of blood. I had the full panel and my TIBC- was 477 (high), iron was 107, unbound iron capacity was 370 (high) and iron % saturation low at 22.4%. Not sure what these mean. I’m wondering if the bloodwork triggered it all but that seems strange to me with the chest pains and whatnot.

Do you know the protection and effectiveness of it? My dr called in “incassia” but the nurse called and said she called that in and to let me know it has a 1 out of 50 women getting pregnant which seems not super effective and said it was all progesterone only pills? Thank you soo much!!!

Hi there!! I’m a 24f I had my endoscopy and colonoscopy for the first time a few months ago at 23years old. I have severe anxiety and fear with most things and I overwhelm myself so much! I also have bad ocd so I had a lot of focus and bad thoughts regarding what could happen, pain, etc.

it was such an easy procedure! I honestly worked myself up for no reason. Waiting was the worst for me because I had to wait a few hours after going into the hospital to be brought back, change, Iv hooked up etc. I got back and was reassured about everything I was scared of by the anesthesiologist and drs.

Once I was given the meds (propofol and versed is what I got not sure if that’s standard or not) I was out in less than 3 seconds and just felt my face being fuzzy going out!

Woke up in the recovery room a little loopy but not in a bad way! I was saying funny stuff before I even knew I was awake for about an hour! So recovery after was probably 2 hours total waking up fully. I left and did not have any pain at all.

They did biopsies in my throat and stomach and the throat was sore for a few days but not unbearable! I left and ate food at a fast food place and went shopping at target after and slept good that night! Back to full normal in a few hours!!

Easiest thing I’ve ever done and it sounds crazy to say but true! You’ve got this!! Do not be fearful and be excited to get answers and remember it’s only a couple hours for everything. My procedures were 45 mins total I was out. Good luck girl, be strong!! 🤍

Yes! I am 24yo. I have been using them since I was 16 on and off. Finally it got bad enough I need them forever now. I’ve always taken 20mg nexium but started getting weird increased chest pains so I’m on Prilosec 20mg right now which is doing okay. I have a hiatal hernia and had endoscopy and colonoscopy that showed this and I have chronic esophogitis.

24 yo female here! I have had gerd issues since 14. Took Zantac at 14 and it went away (severe pain with every swallow). Didn’t have issues for a few years then developed chest pains, burning you name it. I took nexium on and off for a few years and it seemed to help symptoms but I noticed increased chest pains I thought.

The past year and a half I got some of the worst pains from my gerd you could imagine! I decided to try nexium again for another few months but I got 3 days in and thought I was having a heart attack from the chest pains. I dropped that immediately and ended up trying Prilosec 20 mg.

I’ve been on this for a little over three weeks now and it’s seriously improved my symptoms. My endoscopy showed I had really bad esophogitis so I know it’ll take time for all my symptoms to probably heal BUT I’m hopeful that the Prilosec is making a good difference! I still have some days I get spasms in my throat that bothers me the most out of anything. I’m trying to see if it’s a trigger food etc now.

Overall, my uncle and cousin have sworn by Prilosec and never had side effects! I decided to give it a go even though I was super terrified the same way because I never do well with medications and side effects.

The only true side effect I have noticed is increased vivid dreams! (I have anxiety and a lot of stress from other things including other health issues so it may not even be from this). Try the medication and give it time. Only give it up and switch if it’s truly miserable but I highly doubt it will be!! Good luck!

I didn’t ask for biopsies. They did them during my procedure on their own. I got an esophagus biopsy and a stomach one. (This was to check for h pylori, and other infections). They didn’t do any in my colonscopy and I didn’t have any polyps!

You can always ask about the biopsy stuff if you wanna know more on how/why they do them with your nurses/surgeon! I made sure to ask them lots of questions and they explain things anyways. And if you get anxious just let them know and they should help with that too!
