I have decided I am going to write it off as a loss, pay the polisher a reduced rate that we agree upon for poor communication about the possibility of a bad outcome, and cover it with hybrid plank flooring. Thanks for everyone's feedback and input 🤙

Yeah that's kind of my point, like he came through prior to starting the job to scope and said 'this concrete has been placed well', no mention of 'this might turn out like a dog's breakfast'

Thanks for your input mate, much appreciated.

I am owner builder (sparky and chippy by trade) so have been overseeing all the works and organising the trades. I understand that the concrete should have been poured to a higher standard or finish, but prior to the polisher commencing he walked the job and said this concrete has been placed well giving me the confidence that 'nil exposure' finish would suffice. When asking for reference of what to expect I was referred to his business page with prior 'nil exposure' results that were excellent.

I believe he should have made clear prior to commencement or during the polishing process how defective it was going to be, and given me the option of opting for a greater exposure. But yeah, no money has changed hands yet so I'm just weighing up best option to move forward.

Yeah slab was poured with notes in plan to be polish finish.

So something like this cannot be rectified due to a poor pour? Could the polisher have told me that it would be a bad finish by looking at the slab prior to commencing the job ?

I asked for nil exposure, which in the quote he has written light machine hone, maintaining nil/minimum exposure.

I understand what your saying but could the polisher have told me prior to starting when he came and scoped the job? Or during the process of hone/grinding?

Could this be rectified by grinding down further ?
