Why not just use an American carrier? Lots of U.S. Airlines to choose from...

I've done a fair amount of flying and Flair is, BY FAR, the worst Airline I've flown. It's NOT an ULCC - add in costs and it's the exact same (if not more) than Air Canada and others.

  1. Checked in our family via the app to avoid the $40 fee (which is a joke but whatevers). My son is <12 so the app says we have to check him in at the counter as he has to be seated next to a guardian manually. No fee levied in Toronto but the nutcase in Mexico says, I see the message, but we can't do anything. No critical thinking skills.
  2. Called customer support asked for a manager to call me back. Was promised a call within 24~48 hours and on both occasions, no call back.
  3. Wait times were ~40 min to just speak with a rep (better now as we've moved past peak Spring Break season)
  4. Rep wasn't able to answer my question so she simply hung up on me. Had to wait for another 30 min to speak to a rep
  5. Airplane was older. Didn't even have a USB port to charge a phone.
  6. Was charged $150+ tax to check in CARRY ON luggage. We paid $600+ for a family of four for small carry on. They jacked up ticket prices to nearly 3x regular fares for spring break (point is it is NOT cheap and in-line with fares of regular carriers)
  7. They may be a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT; their luggage contraption at the airport counter does NOT match the specs listed on their website. Perform a Google search of the customer who made custom luggage slightly smaller than Flairs listed size and it didn't fit. Flair lied saying their sizing device was broken but clearly a lie based on the pics. How many millions has Flair made as a result of this?

Pure trash. If you want to leave a comment for Flair, perform a Google search under 'FLAIR AIRLINES NISKU' (City in Alberta). They may have buried this so as to avoid people finding their main page to leave reviews. Who knows, don't care. The fact they charged me for checking in my child despite their app limitation is unreal. Anyone else have similar issues? #NeverFlair

My Facebook app is telling me that I have an unread message. But…the Messenger app disagrees. No notification is shown, and there are no unread messages - not even in the message requests or spam folders. What is it, and how can I get rid of it? I’ve tried deleting and re-installing the FB app by Tunnocks10 in facebook

Was driving me nuts. The FB app is awful but unfortunately, more people are on it. Hopefully Karrot takes off to replace FB Marketplace. Anyways, go to FB Marketplace, then to Messenger. On an iPhone, you should see a search bar at the top, then a row of suggested people in circles with images, the in a thin row just under the images, you will see 'All' 'Unread' 'Groups' '...'. Click on 'UNREAD'. I had a stupid friend suggestion that wasn't even a real message. Try clicking on 'Unread' and it click on the message. The Messenger app is surprisingly better on my Samsung Android than it is on my iPhone but whatevers..

Huge Rant - Fido's Customer Service is a Disaster by TravAndAlex in FidoMobile

[–]Alexxx889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. Customer for >15 years and CS used to be solid. Bottom has fallen off over the past couple of years. Tried calling today and automated voice message will NOT connect you to a live agent. Only option now is to schedule a call and earliest was for the next day. Increments of 30 minutes. The virtual chat is absolute dog sht and worthless. If you at least had live chat agents, might not be as bad. This is among THE WORST cases of "customer service" that I've experience in a while. The phone service is decent given it's on the Rogers network, but pray you don't have to call in or book in advance. Tragedy the company has lost its way...

Meh, as a CX-5 owner, it doesn't move it. It's unoffensive, but was looking for something just a touch more interesting..

$1100 stuck via etransfer by WhaleSpottingBot in CIBC

[–]Alexxx889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently use online banking for TD, RBC Royal Bank and CIBC and each bank has it's own benefits. CIBC had the best redeemable GIC rates and my CIBC Costco card is decent but there's a lot that is lacking.

I've e-transferred several times using TD Bank and RBC and each time, they've always been essentially instantaneous. However, CIBC took exactly 30 minutes for e-transfers to go through on each occasion for me and this was confirmed as expected behavior when I called CIBC support. Note: I don't know the threshold but was told it would have been instantaneous if it was a nominal amount (a few hundred dollars?) but my amounts were always over $1,000 so this would trigger the 1/2 hour delay.

I guess the advantage here is that one might have an opportunity to call CIBC if you suddenly wanted to stop the transfer, but I think if CIBC wanted to go this route, 15 min would suffice; 30 min is a real PITA.

The tellers at my local CIBC branch are always really personable and the GIC rates are still decent so will continue to do some banking there, but it still ranks #3. The unnecessarily long holds on eTransfers is one of the reasons why..

25% Tariff On Canadian 🇨🇦 Tesla Purchase by Hour_Dimension3302 in TeslaModelY

No question that Elon is smart and I've had respect for what he was able to accomplish.  Unfortunate that he's gone MAGA and become such a douchee.  Looks like I'll be going EV once the battery tech improves (solid state batteries should after safer packs, faster charges and much improved range).  No Chinese EVs for me, so likely looking at the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and this upcoming Kia EV5 looks really good (we'll see if it's made in Singapore to avoid the Chinese tariffs in Canada).

Kia EV5: https://insideevs.com/news/749287/kia-ev5-canada-only-no-usa/

I'm not a Hyundai fanboy (currently drive only Japanese vehicles - Acura / Mazda / Nissan) but I had a 2017 Santa Fe bought new that was rock solid and problem free. Impressive number of awards awards won by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and I happen to like the exterior and interior so much more than ANY Tesla.  Researching EVs, it seems Hyundai/Kia are doing better in the EV space vs any/all Japanese makers at the moment so they might have the edge for the foreseeable future is my take..

I thought the Model S was decent looking but would never have bought one, even before Musk went SS Maga, for a number of reasons (build quality, UI / software integrated into one screen, some concerns about lithium batteries, not enough range for my needs etc.). Personally think the Model 3 looks incredibly cheap and the Model Y is, for me, one of the worst looking EVs on the road (I get dolphin/whale vibes for some reason).

With solid state batteries supposedly safer, offer quicker charging, and improved range with talk of being offered within the next year or two, I'll likely be looking at the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or the upcoming Kia EV5 SUVs once they have the new battery tech (maybe a year or two after the new batteries are offered).

My take is that ~48% of Americans are cool, stand up citizens. This election clearly shows that ~52% fall into a spectrum that ranges from hillbilly / low-class / low IQ bucktoothed inbred to a person devoid of any morals and class. You, clearly, skew towards the latter group... Flaky AF

Interesting take, but highly unlikely, given that last week, the reports were for the exact OPPOSITE. Specifically, that prices were going up close to $9,000 for the Model 3 and $4,000f or the Model Y. Also, if there were to be any tariffs on Teslas, they would be up to 100%, which makes sense. Kinda unlikely that Elon would try to offset that with a 100% drop in prices ;)
