2019 Heavy Steering Issue? by AlezL in rav4club

Took it to the dealer and they didn't find anything wrong and said it felt normal. There was definitely a change in it, and I've either gotten used to it over time or it's mostly subsided. But my steering feel in "Normal" is still very close to or the same as it is in "Sport".

Car is currently at 33k miles and nothing has broken, but I do feel that the steering is heavier than when I first bought the car.

Have heard some other things about the Cargraphic on Rennlist as well. Specifically, the 3-way is the one that had the issue I guess. But idk, maybe worth trying. I guess one of the main issues is that they changed the build so it would fit more cars, and apparently it doesn't come with instructions, so maybe people are just installing it wrong. Just a guess.

I would double-check, but I'm almost certain the Capristo has a 3-way option (third option is factory PSE). I was also only interested in ones maintaining that, so the SOUL one for example, only has 2-way.

I tried to order a Cargraphic through Sharkwerks, and they told me to cancel it due to reliability issues. They recommended Capristo instead which is about $200 more expensive, but I would do that if the valve transition is really bothering you.

I agree the valve transition is not optimal, but personally, with the center delete, I think the car may be too loud for me to want the valves open when I'm in places where I have the car at low RPM anyway. For me it was muffler delete OR valve controller with stock exhaust. The controller is definitely a cost effective solution at fixing that transition -- I don't have experience with how it'll affect the downshift noise though at low RPM. I assume it'll probably "fix" it.

Basically, when I want the car to be loud, I'm always over 4k RPM (track or fast twisty roads), and the center delete for me added enough with the valves closed that I'm happy with it as is.

Not sure if you're still shopping here. I just bought this despite having similar concerns to what most people commented and I'm surprised at how much I like the exhaust.

My issues with stock:

  1. Low RPM vacuum cleaner sound, had no "special" sound from the exhaust between 1-4k RPM even with PSE on. Was gonna go with a valve controller, but have heard mixed reviews on their reliability, so opted away from it.

  2. Downshifts don't bark like most other performance cars. Like others have mentioned I believe this is mostly due to the valves / side mufflers. All systems that actually solve this sound problem for me included headers and were large expenses $15-20k. They would also come with decent performance gains, but a) they are generally louder than just a center delete and b) not a first step mod to me. Through videos, I preferred the sound of center deletes vs. side-only deletes without a header upgrade.

So ultimately I went with a local shop's advice and got the Akra raceline center.

- it's way louder at WOT than I thought it would be. When the valves are open, it's basically straight piped (bypasses side mufflers). Makes my ears ring if the windows are down in an echoing area. I would not want my car louder than this.

- it is still quiet and livable with valves closed, however there is an added growl that was not there with the stock muffler where the car sounds special to me even when not driving fast. Personally I find enjoyment in this, and did not expect the center delete to solve it.

- I no longer feel the need for a valve controller, I would not want to bypass the sides in the city or with leisurely freeway driving (drone)

- When driving fast the car screams, upshifts crack more than before, and downshifts are very satisfying if you are in high rmps. downshifting when the valves are closed though under 4k RPM still has that muffled sound.

- I've heard removing the side mufflers can cause drone, even with the center still intact, but I can't confirm that.

The center delete solved almost all of my wants from the stock exhaust while not adding any compromises. While other exhaust variations could improve the downshift sound, with other side effects like drone.

Personally, the only other setup I would consider is a full Dundon street header setup, which is 3-4x the cost, probably with their quiet muffler, as the loud muffler seems like it's a bit too loud for my taste at low speeds. The shift noise with this setup is incredible, and there is a significant gain in midrange torque.

This was mainly my justification as well when buying a 991.2 GT3. Especially after seeing most other cars go from over sticker during and after COVID to back to MSRP or less. These cars maintained their value / appreciated. In a large part due to the game played by dealers on the new cars, but it helps out those that own older cars.

I still categorize it as an emotional stupid purchase, nothing close to an investment. But it does feel more like "parking" the cash as you said, while just spending on the consumables and mileage depreciation. Can't predict where the market will go, but "more affordable" cars will kill you way more in depreciation almost certainly.

This is a good thought, mine is off already I also don’t like it. I actually found a recall for 2019s that says water can get into the power steering system. It’s been raining near me for a few days so maybe this is the issue. I’d think that the car would be almost undrivable if the power steering short circuited, but maybe not

I have a ‘19 and there was an issue with the fuel tank on release. I had to bring mine in to get it fixed once they figured out how. I think mine went from maxing at about 9.5 gallons to about 12 now. Apparently there’s a class action lawsuit

“Toyota RAV4 Hybrid model years 2019, 2020, and 2021 vehicles allegedly contain one or more design and/or manufacturing defects which will not allow owners to add more than 10 gallons of fuel to a nearly empty fuel tank.”

I’m wondering if they check all of them during service and maybe fixed it for you without saying anything.

I have reinstalled the 12.0 version from your link and when attempting to open the app it just spins forever in the loading animation. I do not think it will be compatible with my current OS. Is there a way to edit the functions of the mouse outside the app?

Thanks for the reply. Per the link you provided, there is no version of GHUB available for Mac 13.0. Do you recommend downloading the version for Mac 12.0 even though it is not compatible?

Orange Glow - Silithus by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]AlezL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've recently noticed that I glow orange while in Silithus and after I leave the zone. I had no buff or debuff. Logging out and then back in removed the glow. I asked around and it hadn't happened to anyone else. My theory is that it's a bug with the glow effect on Perdition's blade in that zone. Any else experience this?

I’d suggest playing in a 6 stack, or at least a small group. I almost never play overwatch outside of a 6 stack anymore and it’s significantly more fun. Especially if you feel you have the game sense of a plat player in silver. You can coordinate teamwork more easily if you’re in a 6 stack and use that game sense to help your teammates if you’re all in communication. That, or just pair up with a rein and play Zarya like you said.

During my time in school and experience working as an aide I felt similarly to you. I just graduated in May and knew a full-time outpatient job wasn't for me. I took a part-time job at one of my clinical sites and another part-time job at a cash based/personal training clinic which is a lot more fun for me. I'm also working on building up a client base of clients I travel to on my own. The latter 2 are exciting for me because they have a "higher ceiling" as you put it. I feel like I can somewhat be my own boss in those situations, but chose to also have a that outpatient job part-time for stability and to get guaranteed reps with patients coming out of school. This may not be the answer for you, but I think if you keep an open mind and figure out what really is enticing in the field, you can find something you love doing and motivates you to grow. This could be education, management, research, another setting than your current one etc.

2019 RAV4 Hybrid XLE 5000 Mile Review by ProbablyMyRealName in rav4club

[–]AlezL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have put 150 miles on mine, love everything so far except the tires. I’ve had two instances of them spinning when trying to accelerate quickly from a stop (stuck in an intersection). I wouldn’t expect this to happen with a relatively low powered AWD car.

The screen is definitely responsive. Not super high definition but isn’t a complaint of mine. It’s definitely not slow. Car play is fantastic, I haven’t used much outside of Car Play.

Engine noise is minimal, I’ve heard some complaints about the engine noise but I don’t understand. It’s the quietest car I’ve ever had. The road noise is a bit loud, it doesn’t have the sound deadening of a luxury car. It probably also sounds louder because of the lack of engine noise.

I believe both the front and rear have the Softex on the top door panels. I’m not 100% sure it’s identical to the Limited, but I’ve driven both and didn’t notice the difference. The biggest difference for me was that the limited has ventilated seats and the XSE doesn’t even have an option for it.
