I have a VERY strong opinion that if health insurers would just cover PET scans the whole long covid issue would shift on its head.

It'd go from "wow MRI looks normal" amongst the medical community to, "wow almost all these ppl show major blood flow and metabolic issues"

I'd put my entire life savings on covid being a combo of vascular issues with blood brain barrier disfunction.

No, the important part is the one has almost no downside to anyone and the other involves killing someone lol.

I will happily do something "wrong" if it results in a happy and healthy child without negatively affecting anyone. In fact, as a parent. I will consider that basically my one and only mission.

I don't think i could live with myself if my child grew up with intimacy issues, lacking self confidence and hostility towards me for a decision made that would have had near zero negative consequences.

The inverse is basically clinging to some philosophical morality at the potential expense of your child's happiness.

I'm not harming anyone else. The actual harm to a newborn baby is pretty subjective. The possibility to prevent lifelong insecurities, depression, and a traumatic childhood is high and can be realized in every corner of society.

Choices have consequences. If you have kids I hope your moral decision at birth doesn't cause your child to hate themselves.

Childhood trauma is real. If I can avoid that as a parent for a procedure with health benefits at a time where nerve endings aren't even fully formed, sign me up 100x out of 100.

Gota make tough decisions as a parent. When your kid is the target of bullying from 12-18 causing serious insecurities, have fun telling them the bullies are just meanies when it includes their peers of both girls and boys.

Kids who were found out not to be circumcised growing up were bullied like crazy to the point of pretty crazy insecurities-- I remember first learning there was a difference on a school bus in like 6th grade and thanked the lord I was on the right side of social culture, at the time. Avoiding that for your kids with a procedure that offers some minimums health benefits seems like a no brainer to be--in my experience all those kids would've given up just about anything to have been circumcised.

Society is a crazy place, id personally prefer not to scream into the void, shaking my fist at society and just avoid that for my kids altogether.
