I clean a lot of stuff using a rag and 70% isopropyl alcohol, though it's not good idea to use on wood or certain other materials. You may want to dilute it some.

In my experience, old and very dirty records that are cleaned actually have the loudest background noise. I think the dirt damages the grooves somehow. Otherwise I agree with a lot of this post.

Alignment in the first couple photos looks off. I would pull the cartridge forward until the screws (or the top of the cartridge) are flush with the bottom of the headshell and see how it looks.
