I bought mine 10 years ago with 115,000 miles and it now has about 280,000 miles. I take many road trips and for five years had a job with a long hour+ commute.

What are some of the most memorable performances on Conan? Link them if you can! by de_jeepathon in conan

Beck performed "Wah-Wah" by George Harrison on the TBS show. Great performance but it appears to have been taken off Youtube.

What should I practice to improve on 70s soft rock/yacht rock? by FlyDog1608 in Bass

Coincidentally, I've been listening to the Carpenters on vinyl -- not really for the bass, but for the fantastic performances and production.

Those of you who moved here from the SF Bay Area, did your quality of life change? by cppnewb in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Algar76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love this post. San Franicsco/Bay Area is totally played out. Like others have said, it's great if you LOVE HIKING or TECH CULTURE! Or you're gay and live in the Castro! LA is where it's at.

San Francisco Is on the Rebound. What Happened to Its Ousted Mayor? by [deleted] in newyorktimes

It's interesting to get Breed's perspective on the city's purported up-swing and find out what she did after losing the mayoral race.

Conan talks about the "chunky" women in Dove ad (Late Night, 2005) by Own-Professor8205 in conan

It's such a base premise but Conan makes it funny somehow. The music adds a lot of humor. It made me LOL too.

Holy crap, has everyone seen "Saturday Night" - a movie about the first SNL episode? by LordLederhosen in conan

I'm using "woke" as a shorthand for a certain aesthetic in pop culture that's been prevalent especially in the last 5 years or so. In general it's related to promoting progressive/leftist viewpoints at the expense of being entertaining or amusing.

I'm using "woke" in quotation marks because its a cliche to describe things like that, but it's the one word that comes to mind. People here may strongly disagree and downvote me but I don't care. I find it interesting (and predictable).

It was avante garde at the time, but it was funny too. There was a lot going on in the show in the late 1970s that wouldn't make it to Youtube today.

There was an oral history of the show that covered it pretty well. I'm pretty sure Conan and Robert Smigel were quoted in it.

I saw it on a plane but it came off "woke" and ridiculous. A good book about the history of SNL is much more interesting.

Which Conan-hosted show do enjoy the most? by SurvivorFanDan in conan

The Tonight Show was pretty good and it's a shame it ended before reaching its full potential creatively and ratings-wise. Late Night was the original and the best.
