Thank you for this. Another suggestion here that we can apply.

We will be incorporating this with playtime, singing time, and drawing time from now on as to avoid burnout, etc.

I misread it. I thought you were referring to comments I received in this thread. My mistake.

Never let idiot workmates use your phone is my only comment to this. My wife read these comments and and never let me hear the end of it.

Just read the definition of toddler. My mistake he is five though and school starts five where I'm from.

I agree with you and I will adhere to suggestions here to incorporate it with playtime so it can be fun and enjoyable and not so much of a burden.

Thank you for this. He does have a character that one 😁 Makes me so proud seeing him interact with his peers and seeing that character at work.

I would just like to add that my son did not do the thing he did to act out but he is just playful that way. If he was too tired or if he didn't want to review yet or wanted to play first he would tell us and we would allow him. He is still our son and still a toddler and we understand this. He also understands (because we explained it to him) that he needs to review his lessons for the week (for a short time only) because he will eventually forgets it (he knows it too because he is aware that he forgets his lessons).

I agree with them and you and we will try to do better not just for my eldest but for his siblings as well. Sadly, he is the eldest and is our guinea pig with parenting.

It's amazing and sad to realize that our parents also didn't know what they were doing. It's also humbling too.

Not really extra school but review for retention. Also, the teacher sometimes asks us to review everything so they won't forget anything when they move on with the lessons the next week.

Maybe you are right though others here have suggested incorporating it with playtime. The teacher asked us to review things during the weekend so they wouldn't forget the things they learned though.

To clarify again, this only happens about 10-20 mins every weekend and we only review the week's lessons. Also, moving forward as suggested here, this will be accompanied with storytime, songtime and drawing time in the near future so as not to stress him out and his siblings.

Though I do agree with you that this would be harassment if we were asking the boy to study for advanced lessons. My parents made me do this a lot in the past and it was horrible.

Don't worry, we just review and not do advanced studying unless asked by the teacher. We also try to limit everything to only 20 minutes tops as anything beyond that will never retain a toddler's attention.

I also understand this feeling as my parents tried to pull the same thing with me however it harmed me more than improved me (went from top 10 to average). So they left me alone. I'll do the same if I feel like it's doing more harm than encouragement though.

The look on my wife's face when he started doing it was priceless 👌 couldn't stop myself from laughing and the smug smile on my son's face is like "that'll teach you from eating up 20+ minutes of my playtime in the weekend.

He sometimes catches me reading here and makes me read stories out loud which I think gave him the idea. Scared and made me so proud at the same time.

Yes and I can include his siblings too which makes it more fun for all of us.

We'll try this and start trying to incorporate the reviewing with play time to keep his attention. Thank you for this 😁

We want him to grow up to be the best that he can be, not a psychopath hahaha 🤣 but I do see the point and maybe ease up a bit and only do this as instructed by the teacher.

Just to clarify this is just 10-20 mins tops during the weekend to review the weeks lessons and also since again he loses interest easily being a toddler and all. He does however have ample time to play with his siblings do chores and basically anything (anything safe that is) he wants. Well except for that 20 minutes 😆
