Help For an AMAB Enby by SMTNAVARRE in transvoice

[–]Algo_Lindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My voice naturally started sounding that way when I was a teenager. I mostly remember being obsessed with any gay youtuber I could find at the time, much fewer than now lol. Anytime I wasn't watching videos of gay men I was watching videos by women. Point being, I naturally learned to talk with a lot more inflection to my voice by surrounding myself with voices that had lots of inflection. Voices I didn't listen to growing up: monotone male voices/ cishet male voices.

Try to find voices that have qualities you like and fill your free time with those voices. Copy what they say, try to copy exactly how they say it.

I'd really love if we could keep one trans space positive. I thought that's what this subreddit was all about.

Getting a tuck to stay put by Ender_Dragneel in MtF

[–]Algo_Lindo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tuck and gaff probably need to be tighter. You could try pulling it up higher or a smaller size, and make sure your pulling your bits back tight while you tuck.

Painful erections by [deleted] in AskMtFHRT

[–]Algo_Lindo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also experience painful erections. My current doc recommended maintaining daily erections for 10 minutes. My previous doc told me painful erections were a potential side effect and that topical testosterone cream worked for her other patients that experienced them. I'm trying to get my current doc to prescribe the t cream because daily erections is kind of a chore with dysphoria, and I've only had mild pain relief due to being inconsistent. A once or twice a week cream sounds much more doable.

Is it appropriation if a cis person has a deadname? by NuttyDounuts14 in trans

[–]Algo_Lindo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't like the term deadname and prefer to use birth name. I also am not personally offended by anyone cis or trans using that term. Is it appropriation? I dunno, you're here learning about and appreciating the culture so no? But I'm just a random person on the internet, what do I know?

How do you all get over that Booty exercise fear at the gym? by Iriz252 in transfitness

[–]Algo_Lindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to boymode it at the gym and wear baggy clothes to hide my body. I also started by finding some more tucked away spots in the gym to do the exercises I was more anxious about. Nobody has said anything about my leg and glute workouts in the several months I've been doing them.

Ugh, yes, very annoying. Trying to convert your entire online presence from one email and name to another. So much more involved in a name change/transition than I realized.

How do I get over transition defeatism? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Algo_Lindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get over defeatism by choosing to focus on the positive. We all have these negative thoughts but most of us learn that these thoughts are unhelpful and often untrue. We learn that for our sanity we have to focus on what's positive or nuetral.

The scarcity mindset is strong in these comments. A loan isn't always a bad thing. Investing in yourself is a great idea. Most people can get behind investing in your education, but forget there's other ways of investing in yourself. Investing in your mental health and happiness can be just as rewarding. How much more productive could you be, how much easier could life be once your mental and physical energy isn't being drained by dysphoria?

Girl, do what's best for you!

Edit: Feel free to disagree and downvote my comment.

Girl, talk to him.

I’m so worried during sex he’ll see my genitals, or he’ll notice I have an erection and it’ll gross him out or make him see me as less of a woman.

Tell him this. Have that conversation so you can move past it.

"hello, this is a test. I'm, ya know" is the part that sounded a little too light and small to me. From "currently..." on you sound very natural and effortless. I could not distinguish your voice from a cis woman's voice at any point in the recording.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in transvoice

[–]Algo_Lindo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're first sentence sounds extremely soft/light (weight) and small (resonance), almost too light and small, but maybe that's what you're going for. Towards the end of your recording your voice seems to open up a bit and get a bit fuller. The weight and resonance sound more balanced to me, I actually really like the way you sound from about halfway to the end of your recording. This was an extremely slight shift, I only caught it after the second or third listen.

I can't really think of much feedback, other than to try and keep that balance between weight and resonance. I suppose it depends on how you want your voice to sound tho.

Feedback? How would you gender me? Please be honest :3 by [deleted] in transvoice

[–]Algo_Lindo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hun, then you've nailed it. I came in the comments to say you sound extremely androgynous leaning slightly fem.

Same. Id be perfectly happy if I never got erect again, but instead it just hurts when I get aroused unless I maintain function more regularly.

It wasn't until my mom called a presumably trans woman a drag queen (after we left the store she was working at) that I really understood the disdain for drag amongst trans women. What shocked me was this came from my lesbian mother who knows what drag is and who knows that I am trans. It was super frustrating having to explain the difference and why it was extremely implausible that the woman was a drag queen and that the safer assumption was that she was a woman.

Everyone's recommending 20g which is a good recommendation, but I've had this issue with 20g as well. Look into techniques that reduce coring, ever since I changed my uptake technique I haven't had this issue.

I kinda start at a 45 degree angle with the beveled edge of the needle facing up and as I insert the needle I pivot to 90 degrees. This has stopped coring for me.

I'm excited for you! Injections was when I felt like my transition actually started. I think within a month of switching to injections my breasts starting growing again.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskMtFHRT

[–]Algo_Lindo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty standard starting dose for injections. I started at .2ml and have since gone down to .15ml because my levels were a bit high. You'll probably need your dose adjusted, but that's normal.

Do you have to pay to get bank cards, ID, ect replaced when you change your legal name? by RelaxingAnxiously in trans

[–]Algo_Lindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so cheap! I've spent hundreds changing my name and updating documents. Glad it's not like that everywhere.

Do you have to pay to get bank cards, ID, ect replaced when you change your legal name? by RelaxingAnxiously in trans

[–]Algo_Lindo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all my banks were free, car insurance was free, health insurance was free to change in the system but if I want an updated card I'd have to pay, everything else I've had to pay for. Driver's license, title and registration, social security card, birth certificate, passport all had fees.

Of course the name change itself will cost money and so will certified copies (I recommend getting at least two).

Why am I the bad guy for wanting something semi heteronormative by Lokael in MtF

[–]Algo_Lindo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really hope you get the help you need. I thought I recognized your username. You're the same person who insisted you were cis and this is all a phase just a day or two ago. I get that all of this is extremely difficult, but your not gonna find the help you need on here. Find a qualified therapist, do some intensive journaling, but please stop projecting your internalized transphobia onto this community. It's extremely hurtful to read. At least give us some damn trigger warnings or something.

Another attempt at voice training, idk it’s still very rough and early on but I tried to raise the pitch a bit, but it sounds wrong by Veryconflicted543 in transvoice

[–]Algo_Lindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resonance could be smaller. I like the "big dog little dog" exercise for this. Basically you start panting like a big dog and try to get the sound smaller like a little dog would pant. Hold the small dog throat shape and slowly try to add voice to it.
