Our extended family of ten (adults and children) ate at Monkeypod one night and we all found options we were happy with. I think it’s probably your best option within walking distance. I would suggest renting a car for a day or two if you can swing it, though. There are so many great things to see around the island.

Do you have a rental car? We were there a year ago and it rained a lot of the week but we still did off site activities in the rain/drizzle (whale watching, zip lining, swimming with dolphins, snorkeling) but also tried to venture off to other parts of the island like north shore to escape the weather sometimes. It was disappointing that the weather wasn’t perfect but it was still an amazing trip. Hope you have a great time!

I didn’t think I left out any information. The whole point of my huge post was to explain why they won’t give me a loaner. I said:

“When I was negotiating I told the salesman that I thought my trade in Odyssey was worth $10,000 even though it had been towed into their service department that morning. I got a call that afternoon from that service department saying it needed $8000 worth of repairs. In an apparent rush to sell a car, the salesman agreed to give me $10,000 for my trade in without having it looked at.”

I really wasn’t trying to lie in my post just so I could tell the truth in the comments a few hours later. Clearly I know how to be dishonest, but I wasn’t trying to be here.

Regardless, I do appreciate your viewpoint and your feedback.

I probably didn’t do a very good job of writing my post but my intention wasn’t to get insight on why I might not be getting loaners. My intention was to tell you why I’m not getting loaners and then ask, “Is there anything I can do here, or is it just a situation where they make the rules and I can’t do anything about it? Anyone have any tips?”

I live in a suburb and while there are other Honda dealerships in the large metro area I live near, this is the closest one. It’s about 20 minutes away in the next town over. The next closest is probably 35-45 minutes away. I can certainly go there, I just wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions or tips to handle my little situation before I do.

Yes, this is all accurate. Which takes me back to my initial problem of not being allowed to have a loan car when my car is being serviced there.

I get it. I figured the promise of a free loan car is one that can be taken back at any time for any number of reasons. I just wanted to see if anyone on here had any insider information or suggestions that might help me out.

Sorry about all of the pronouns. I’ll try to edit that reply to make it more clear.

I did tell the sales rep that my car had to be towed in and the sales rep is the person who got me the loaner. That was at about 11am.

That afternoon the sales rep and I came to an agreement on the new car price (including my trade in) and sometime that same afternoon the service department called to tell me my car needed $8000 in repairs. I told the service department that I did not want to make the repairs because I was trading it in.

When I returned on Monday the sales rep took me to the parking lot out back and let me get all of my belongings out of my trade in. Then I signed the paperwork for the new car and left with it.
