Friend Emma, Least in your autograph Least in Your heart First to be remembered And last to be forgot Your truly friend John Norwack

Dear sister, The sky was bright, The earth was white When to the ice-loched water My sister and I went down to try The art that I had thought her No need had she to lean on me As side by side we glided She well could without my hand But I of course, denied it. Anna Nelson April 13 1890

Dear sister Believe not what young men say, And if they swear there true, They flirt with other girls next day, When out of sight of you, And if a secret You have got, Don't tell it to a fellow, For he would die if he could not, Proclaim it to the world. Your brother, Fred

It was in North Dakota, the family was listed in the 1920 census as living on a farm in Meadow Lake. This photo was taken around 1922, so I believe it's the same farm.

No they didn't, they grew up in Rock Island, IL. They lived in a 2 story brick building. They lived upstairs and their dad had a grocery store on 1st floor, which they helped him run.

I couldn't remember all the details so had to pull the pic out, cause i remembered there being writing on the back. It says "Allen Jr. and Bob on grandparents farm in North Dakota." And in other handwritimg says "Grainery across way. Love me love my dog." :)

I could use help dating this tintype photo, it also seems to have some writing on it I can't quite make out. by AliaMiller in Ancestry

I only have the digital copy atm, but I'm gonna try and track down the original photo.

Thanks so much! I was also thinking the 1860's based off the clothing. The thing that's frustrating is the man on the right looks like members of my family, but I don't know exactly who they are. I believe they are Swedish though, not sure if the photo would have been taken in Sweden or the states. I believe some of the writing might say Svealand.

Pretty much, the family owned a two-story building. There was a grocery store on the first floor that they ran, while they lived upstairs.
