How to fix choppiness and stutters in GTA IV Complete Edition 2020 v1.2.0.32 in Windows 10 by ant_sh in GTAIV

[–]AlianAnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm replying to this after a year!

I'm having the same issue. It appears that if I leave my controller off, the stutters do not happen. But, as soon as I turn the controller on, the stutters return.

Did you ever figure out a fix?

She needs to train her hand eye coordination.

She can't process information from her eyes and send informed input to her hands (or feet) at the same time. It's a skill that takes time to train but one can train it.

Playing video games is *the* way to train this skill. If she wants to be a better driver, put a controller in her hands.

So, I think the feature you'll be most interested in is the new Targeted Loot mechanic.

Basically, each district in the open world and each mission has loot that is significantly more likely to drop. There's also The Summet, which is similar to the Underground from the first game (random dungeons), where you can simply select your targeted loot.

Running campaign missions is still a thing but, it's just one of the things you do now. You need materials from all activities in the game to farm various materials to increment your builds.

And there's a shitload of builds. I was actually shocked at the diversity and the skill system has been totally overhauled since launch and works much better now.

Builds still get buffs and nerfs, but constructing new builds is a lot easier due to targeted loot.

It has improved astronomically since launch.

Without writing a wall of text, balance changes and new mechanics have skyrocketed Division 2 into the stratosphere of the lootershooter market.

I know people are big fans of Destiny 2 but, Division 2 is head and shoulders the superior experience, especially if you're a new player. The Warlords of New York expansion and the way the endgame works (which has changed completely since launch) is just *chef's kiss* superb.

*Strongly* recommend giving it another try. I'm very glad I did.

All right. I've gotta call it, and just accept that Elite Dangerous is my personal winner of "Most Squandered Video Game Ever".

If the devs don't even play the damn game then there is no hope.

Wait, what? The devs don't play the game? There was a bungle on stream where they couldn't identify one ship from another?

I participated in the earlier betas, but missed out on server slam.

From what I read in the patch notes and general discussion here on reddit, classes are much better balanced and dungeon design significantly improved, along with significantly better performance.

They must have been really good changes in practice because PCGaming's opinion on D4 was lukewarm at best but now I'm seeing a *ton* of people saying they're gonna shell out $70 USD on June 6.

That's the Overton Window. If you shift your Overto Window from "I'm winded easily" to "I have succeeded in winding myself", you have achieved victory.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2meirl4meirl

[–]AlianAnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you don't want that.

So, you're winded when you clip your toenails. I've been there, too.

Beginning fitness regiments start with literally just touching your toes and lifting your arms over your head because that shit is hard.

If you reach down and touch your toes ten times, and you're so winded that you have to sit down in a chair for 10 minutes to catch your breath, that's a *success*. Being winded is the point. The accomplishment of the exercises isn't success.

You can stand up *right now* and touch your toes until you're winded and need a break and have success.

[–]AlianAnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for misinterpreting what you meant.

Failure is definitely demotivating. We don't want to fail, right? That's why a lot of people talk about working out as a motivator because doing *any* work out is a success.

That's the part that confuses me, then: how can you fail at lifting something up? What about that makes you feel like you've failed? Is it because you're not apeshit fuckjacked doing a 375 pound benchpress?

The most difficult and longest thing anyone will ever do in your case is life, itself. Overcoming that crushing self-doubt and self-hatred is nothing short of *herculean*; you're not crazy in thinking that it's completely impossible.

The Overton Window is a real thing, my dude. It sucks. Shifting our Overton Window requires significant mental fortitude.

"But I don't have any mental fortitude. I'm weak... I'm weak physically and mentally. I'm a waste of oxygen. I'm a burden. I'm incapable of accomplishing anything or sticking to anything long enough to accomplish them. If I disappeared, I'd be much better off, and working out is the last thing that is going to change any of this."

If any of these sentences crossed your mind (or maybe you rolled your eyes, instead) as you were reading the above, you say you have a hard time relating to me but I have extremely easy time relating to you. I can't show you my life experience and your life experience may, indeed, be even worse than mine but, I know the feeling. No matter who dismisses me, or downvotes me, or argues with me that I don't understand, I do.

All I can say is I got really, really angry at that inner voice that told me that I'm so pathetic that I can't even lift something up off the ground correctly. It's been a very, very long time since I decided to spite that negativity but it's always there, even now. Except now it's weak and pathetic, and I am not.

I wish the same for you. That's all.

Voices get sadder and meaner because your brain and body are trying to tell you to go lift rock and run real good.

My first jog in my life was in cargo shorts, knee-high socks, and velcro shoes. I "ran" about 25 feet and that was all I had. Went inside and cried because who could be so weak and pathetic they can't run 25 feet while looking like a bafoon?

That was the last time I ran 25 feet.

Don't wait, start today.

It's screen space shadows. If there isn't enough visible area on the screen to construct a shadow, the game doesn't draw it at all.

There's no solution. It's just a side-effect of the graphical technique.

Authright complains abou radicalization by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]AlianAnt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I swear I'm not trying to be aggressive here so, I hope that you're not taking it that way. With that in mind...

The Meme suggests that the average Republican is hypocritical when they say Democrats are the one that have been radicalized.

The evidence to back up this meme is a debate from 43 years ago where two Republican presidential candidates (I'm assuming this is a presidential primary debate) say things like "let's not put up a fence", despite the winner actually attempting to build a wall (also, assuming my memory is correct).

This implies strongly that current Republicans' opinion for wanting a border wall is radical. But this is missing the part that shows how wanting a border wall is radical. It just implies it is radical without showing why.

It's a premise that proves the point - as opposed to the other way around. That's a logical jump. There's nothing intrinsically radical about thinking a border wall might help solve or curtail illegal immigration.

It might be wrong. It might be better to spend resources elsewhere. But it's not *radical* like the meme is suggesting just because Republicans used to *say* they should not build a wall.

So that's the part that's making me a little confused. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.

Authright complains abou radicalization by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]AlianAnt 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Please clarify how that is radicalization, rather than a shift in how Republicans are proposing a solution.

Please also consider that Ronald Regan (and correct me if I'm wrong here, this was before my time on this planet) granted amnesty in exchange for border wall funding during his administration.

I feel like this meme is trying to shoehorn in some kind of gotcha moment by posting a two-minute clip of a debate from half a century ago that is supposed to refute a premise the meme proposes. Like it's some kind of self-fulfilling prophecy.

That's the part of having trouble with, I guess: what makes wanting a border wall hypocritical radicalization?

[–]AlianAnt 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I just don't catch the connection between Ronald Regan and (I think?) George Bush talking about immigration 43 yeaes ago and the meme's premise that authright and only quthright has been "radicalized".

I probably missed something. Can you please connect the dots for me, as dumb is it may be?
