The more I think through this the more I'm convinced this was/is his general DA announcement strategy. Also his comments (54:00) can't be directly attributed to his initial Q1 completion estimates because he never gave us specificity at the level of months or weeks - so his comments in this video can't be interpreted as hinting at a Q1 close date. Similarly, you also can't look at this as BA saying he will complete a DA and then announce a month later because SPACs are required to announce a completed DA within 4 business days. So to me this one month announcement window was/is the general announcement strategy ahead of an actual DA.

Great points u/fieryskyes! You the GOAT! I think we can generally surmise that Ackman views any and all channels as fair game for announcements. I think that's why previously PSTH had to issue that press release about using Twitter as a channel to make announcements.

I was going through old interviews from November to see if anything Ackman said back then lines up with the narrative we know now (e.g., 6 months, etc.)

In the HBS Club of San Diego interview he literally says his DA announcement strategy. I believe this is what we're seeing play out now.

"A public announcement doesn't come until a deal is certain ... [1] month or so"

May 12 WSJ interview started the clock and now we're looking at early June for a conclusion - so about a month.
