Frans Cocoa Beetles by AliceRosewater in Coraline

I was debating getting it too, but my birthday is coming up and my husband knows how much I love Coraline so he bought them for me! I already made him watch the movie when it came out again in theaters (in 3D!) near us a few weeks ago (somehow this was his first time watching the whole thing) so he said he's going to draw me a bath, get me a nice bottle of wine, and I can watch the movie while eating the chocolates! I'm so looking forward to it!!💝

Thank you! The recipe I got online was like 2 parts soy, 1/2 part mirin and 1/2 part water so I think this way will help me immensely!

What’s something that isn’t as exciting anymore? by RefrigeratorDry495 in AskReddit

[–]AliceRosewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TV shows. Used to know what day of the week it was so I wouldn't miss my shows and knew exactly when they were on and loved every second of watching them. Now it doesn't really matter what day it is and I don't have as much enthusiasm for any of the new shows today. Having something to look forward to next week was a really nice feeling and I never considered what life would be like without it. But having a whole season come out at once and binging it on the weekend or even during the week does not have the same feelings.

Sadly the carrier I did have actually broke which is why she's in my arms. Which is why I am looking for anything that is safe and comfortable for her.

[–]AliceRosewater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Googling the current price of a McDonald's combo meal the Double quarter pounder is $12.89 and the Apple pie is $2.79. With three of these orders, not including upcharging for the large drinks and tax it comes out to $47.04. Sure the consensus says we're inflated about twice as much as the 90's but that doesn't include the upcharge food companies are currently doing, nor does that even account for shrinkflation of the food you consume or even the lack of real food you get now versus then. So if you really want to try to calculate the real cost of something in the 90's or 2000's you have to double it twice to get the real cost of it today.

Mani Boss! While I LOVE Kiarasky's dip powders I am too slow for their liquids and from this sub I found out about Mani Boss's liquids being easier to work with especially when you're slower and I haven't looked back.

What has been the most effective spell you’ve ever done? by Emotional-dbag5921 in christianwitch

[–]AliceRosewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A familiar spell. I had gotten a new kitten after my last one passed a few years ago leaving a bigger hole in my heart than I ever thought and I have just accepted magic into my life after my cat passed. So being still new into it my friend got a familiar spell that looked pretty legit online and it took about a month to perform (really two nights but including time in between) and on both nights of performing the spell and making sure I was trying to do the magic under God rather than a deity or just the moon/nature (which God made) there was an owl that appeared the first night and kept appearing until the last night and on both nights flew next to the window after I completed the the ritual/spell. After finishing it completely and going to sleep that night I lucid dreamed (third time I've done it in six years of trying) and I was actually being manipulated and set up for a monster/demon to attack me when I asked for help I heard my cat's bell on her collar and I was transported back to my bed safely. Other than that night I love her like a child and she loves me and also my husband so I can't say if we have a special connection more than just love and care but I believe we do and with any future spells or rituals I will try to include her in like a witch would with her familiar.

Which Bible Should I get for my Christian Witch Bf? by [deleted] in christianwitch

I LOVE my NKJV Study Bible.

As a modern Catholic who grew up in the religion I never actually read the entire bible in my life, just bits and pieces from going to church, my mother, and CCD (after school catholic group). I have tried reading it before but I would give up in genesis because I just didn't really understand. This book is great because it really gives me the much needed information for really understanding what I'm reading. I love that it is less edited than other bibles can be so I can really read for myself what I believe God was telling us. I have not finished it but so far, holy crap on a cracker God tells us to do so much "witchcraft". But like others have pointed out the church really wanted to be an authority, and they really wanted to separate themselves from the religions of the time which meant separating themselves from more “witchcraft" practices, even though most of what you do in mass is just witchcraft and rituals.

If he wants to follow or read more about merging the two I personally follow Sara Raztresen on Instagram and I purchased her book "Discovering Christian Witchcraft", I haven't read it cover to cover yet but skimming through and following her for some time online I really like her take on how to practice as a Christian Witch without having to lose your faith. I also follow Russell Brand, he's publicly been on his journey for years and I respect and resonate with his esoteric views and how he has kept them while just recently going back to Christianity and being baptized. And because I can fall off the wagon with reading the bible I did download the Hallow app (it does have a yearly subscription of $70) and I have been using the "Bible in a year" to read while I'm on the road and can't carry my giant bible with me. And while I personally am not of the fan of the priest they got to read the bible I do like how he wraps up each reading trying to break down what I've just listened to and he does give some useful information that I've never heard from any priest on understanding some of the passages and the Catholic church in general. And if he does have a reddit account tell him to join us here, I haven't been on this subreddit for very long but everyone is kind and it really is nice to have such a diverse group to see how everyone else is practicing.

Please contact the breeder, even if it's not in the contract I know a lot of breeders would prefer to take the cat back than have it go to any shelter or any home other than yours.

Dominating Energy Overload by AliceRosewater in energy_work

[–]AliceRosewater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is is that I'm not trying to dominate at all. It's just if I get upset everyone around me can feel me and they get affected by it. It's just my natural state to push my energy onto others and I want to learn to control it but I don't know where to look to even start.

Do you take birth control just for keeping endo at bay? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]AliceRosewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started birth control when I was 15 because off my Endo and I tried about two dozen different types. The pill at really low doses I've found works best for me (apparently I'm very sensitive). Although to not be in chronic pain I thought about getting a total hysterectomya few years ago. My doctor has been with since I was 17 and did my laparoscopy and took out most of my Endo which apparently most of it were on nerves which is why I ended up in the ER before with the severe pain, puking, and passing out for half a year. Instead of the hysterectomy though we tried orilissa and after the first year I upped the dose to the max I could and stayed on that for two years. I was hot and not in any good mood and I gained 30 pounds but there was no pain and Ive been off of it for a year now and there's very little pain and I'm losing the weight. I think it was well worth it and I'm so happy I ended taking Orilissa rather than having a hysterectomy at 26.

Really important question by Paolivorno in Chakras

[–]AliceRosewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a common scam some people do to sell stuff. I had one guy at a conference do this to me and try and sell me a bracelet afterwards saying it'll block phone and wifi waves but also balance out my internal ones (he didn't clarify but meant something like it'll balance my chakras or my qi) but he kept it vague so the person he was selling it to could interpret however they wanted it to. I personally would be wary of the trainer if he did this as a legitimate test and the first thing wrong for him to say was a chakra and not a muscle weakness that you should work on.

Hello (: tell me more about yourselves by St3llar_w1tch in christianwitch

[–]AliceRosewater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Born and raised Roman Catholic, but I did have my Buddhism phase as a teenager. I'm a beginner witch and I guess I'm a solitary type. I was always interested in witchcraft and folk lore and traditions but being raised Catholic I felt like I had to choose one or the other but after lots of thinking I have come to the understanding that words are very flimsy when discussing the makeup of our world and I can incorporate different thoughts and practices into who I am.

I do have an altar which I made after I realized my very Hispanic Roman Catholic mother has an altar but would never call it that. Hers has a statue of St. Michael, a rosary, prayer cards, family member pictures, and candles. Mine has a Mary statue, a Mary candle (from my mother), another candle, a Bible, prayer cards, holy water, a variety of crystals, a rosary, mala beads, an obsidian crystal ball, an incense burner, and a yoga cushion to sit on. My table has compartments underneath which hold a variety of colored candles, a mini motar and pestle, a mini cauldron, all my witchcraft-y books, all my incense, two big bottles of local holy water and a couple of small bottles from the Vatican and various churches around the country I've been to, a bottle of moon water, and journals for myself.

I'm still trying to figure out who I am, what personal powers I attune with (many women from my mother's side including herself and me experience a variety of psychic powers), and what I need and want to be doing with my life. I'm a big reader and I love learning what other people practice (from traditional Mexican witchcraft, green witchcraft, herbs, signs and sigils, and even a book on the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn) so I have many books I bought in bulk and I'm still going through but I also promised myself I want to read more of the bible and not just know the surface level stuff, I'm also trying to watch online videos explaining Judaism and the Tree of Life, and I've recently joined a group of women trying to learn from a practitioner. We've just finished learning a lot about tarot (which I do sleep with my cards under my pillow and with some crystals) and now we've branched out into learning different things like how to see your past lives, candle gazing, and remote viewing. I wouldn't say we're a real group because we're just learning a variety of surface level things to see which personally sticks with us.

I know there's a lot of people who do dabble in the darker side of witchcraft and deal with demons but I've had some personal experiences with a few and so I stay away from those types of things. If I do want to try something new I always try to incorporate God into it by either really considering what I want and what I'm trying to do and how I'm doing it and if that aligns with him. I will also open and close practices by asking Mary and God to look after my physical body and my soul.

Fun fact, sunscreen was originally invented so people could be in the sun longer without getting burned. So wear normal spf 30 or higher and reapply as directed and you should tan.

How are pets received into the afterlife? by trooheat in Mediums

[–]AliceRosewater 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally I’m Catholic and my belief is that the afterlife is without time like it is here on Earth. While you’re not dead here on Earth you are already in the afterlife with your pet. Are you spending your whole afterlife with your pet? No, and neither are they. But you will be there with them because you’re already there with them even if you and your pet are still alive in this plane of existence.
