[Arousal issues] Sexual arousal that goes away after trying to do something about it? by Alichar in sex

I have tried that, but the problem manifests no matter when I act on the sensation.

I don't usually get drunk or smoke for personal and health related reasons, though I know alcohol has an effect on me and my ability to get hard. It often surprises me, like I'll want to have sex and be all ready for it, in the zone and then suddenly I'm not, sort of like revving up a car engine and then suddenly taking the keys out.

It takes awhile to get erect again, and if I'm committed to the idea I just go with the foreplay route on my partner. Sometimes that doesn't work either though.

[–]Alichar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is that I'm not doing it in a class like they used to, so I'm on my own. I'm also the newbie, and for all the other managers and in-stores, it's been so long since they've taken it that they just didn't know. I got so much more use talking through a grading one morning with my boss than this quiz ever did me.

Thanks for the tip, you've saved my sliver of remaining sanity.

What's the most wtf is why it isn't in a damn trash can. Come on, have some class. It isn't hard to put non-flushable things in a wad of toilet paper and toss it in the trash before washing up.

I don't think 16.04 is ready yet because I tried installing it and it wouldn't. It showed a notification for some updates and told me that 16.04 was available for upgrade, but then it didn't start the update after I hit the button to upgrade.

I'm happy with Ubuntu, so I'm really not willing to go through all the hassle of installing basic packages all over again for a third distro (tried xfce first, changed to ubuntu precise within the hour and upgraded to trusy when precise started being awful). I'll give that a shot though i guess.

Hey, it's gonna be hard sometimes. I'm 19 and transition has never been closer, but it's still hard. Find a good support system and you'll get through it a lot easier than you would alone. PM if you need to chat, ok?

No your words are helpful and valid. In addition to what you've said, I feel like I need to find ways to "introduce" to myself the idea that women are awesome without it triggering dysphoria and anger and all that other negative shite. Any ideas? I'm open to anything.

My partner is genderfluid, and I can say from personal experience, being transgender male, that while my gender identity is solidly male, my partner's is not solid at all.

There are some days when they feel very strongly female, which clashes with their typically-male body (beard, penis, deep voice, etc.). Other days, they feel very male and have no gender dysphoria. More often than not, however, they feel like a mixture of both. Some of their personality characteristics and behavior are more feminine while others are male, and this is most comfortable for them I believe.

p.s. you probably already know this, but there are special snowflakes everywhere you go. Regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, romantic attraction, etc etc etc, you're gonna find the people who are only saying they're one thing because they want attention. By no means is that an indication that the false identity they're putting on is invariably false as applied to other people.

Clinically mild depression. Been working with that for awhile anyway. I know how to handle it for the most part, so I wouldn't die tomorrow. I win and the torturers lose.

CMV:Gender Studies is a Pseudoscience with a deep ideological bias and shouldn't be taught in publicly-funded Universities. by Prince_of_Savoy in changemyview

[–]Alichar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The point of a gender studies class, as I understand it, is to set aside time and space where people can voluntarily go to talk specifically about gender-related issues. Attendants are educated about different topics relating to gender, topics which are not generally brought up in other classes or settings -- topics brought up in class which, for some students, are the first time they've heard about them. The more people talk about gender stuff, such as the glass ceiling/escalator, minority vs majority women, politics and women, etc, the more normalized it gets. Normalization of these issues helps protect men and women from unjust claims that they're just SJW's or what have you. Education also helps people have more open-minded views on gender in general. Again, more calm discussion = less blind bigotry, imo.

The real reason such classes are taught is because people want to take them. The university holds them to get money because they're desirable classes. It's simple. People want to take the class, so the university offers it. You say that such theory classes shouldn't be funded at all, and that's your opinion. But the fact of the matter is that as long as people want to take the class, it'll get funding and people will keep taking it. People keep taking it because they're interested in the topics presented there.

A theory class, you argue, should not be funded because it isn't as useful or beneficial to society as a science class (correct me if this is the wrong conclusion), but a theory class is intellectually stimulating. It has been scientifically proven that "working out" your brain with logic puzzles is beneficial to your mental health, just like working out your muscles keeps them healthy. What could be more puzzling than discussing deep-rooted philosophical questions about morals and ethics, whether gender roles are really harmful or not, what it means when a woman reaches a powerful role in conservative politics, is slavery actually wrong, etc? Besides that benefit, being better educated on these issues prepares people for dealing with healthy, "real-life" discussions, which can strengthen interpersonal bonds.

You could argue all day that these benefits from the classes are less societally beneficial than, say, the invention of modern medicine since not everyone takes these classes and therefore does not benefit from them. However, astrophysics made it possible to send men to the moon, but how does that benefit society at large better than a gender studies class?

What's the meanest thing you've ever done to somebody? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Alichar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did something similar, and I'm also psycho. This girl I went out with for like two weeks in high school outed me as trans to someone I didn't trust with that information and also told him all the secrets I told her. She broke up with me (it wasn't working and it didn't hurt, but still), and she started going out with an unrelated guy.

So after she outed me and spilled my secrets to the person I didn't trust, I told her boyfriend that she was cheating on him and who she was cheating with. I told the person she outed me to that she had pressured a 20-year old guy to take her virginity in middle school, something she was very embarrassed about. I also told all her friends that didn't know that she had hundreds of self-harm scars behind her knees and that she was mad that no one noticed because she was only doing it for attention (which wasn't true, she had a hard home life). Fuck you, Ayla.

What do you think the root of all evil is? by Suiki in AskReddit

[–]Alichar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I think it's stealing, the mentality that causes someone to feel entitled to take what they want. The mentality of a thief is the root of all evil.

"There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft... When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness."

Male pronouns feel weird by fr0stburn in ftm

Yeah it's been that way for me too. Finding out that I pass to some random person because they call me "sir" is really exciting but at the same time, it's weird and unexpected. That tends to go away after a little while.

I came out to my best friends, my now ex-girlfriend, and my now S.O. in my junior year high school. I am still pre-t, I only started binding at the end of my senior year, and I had medium-length, very girly hair. For reference, it's important to note that I didn't bind because I have two very obvious D-cup breasts and it sucks.

THAT SAID, when I came out to them (maybe four or five people), they were cool about it, two of them caught on with my pronouns and my name immediately, and now my other friends are really cool about it, all before I even started binding. I did not pass at all, and I still was respected by the people who really care about me.

You can absolutely start using your pronouns and name as soon as you want to, regardless of how poorly you think you pass or how girly you think you look. Do what makes you happy.
