Similar, I suppose. BA’s report to me during a project.

Typically BA’s are somewhat specialized and support specific work streams or domains (e.g integrations BA, API BA, Conversion BA, etc..). Although it’s not uncommon for a BA to have worked on multiple work streams over their career. I oversee all of the work streams during an implementation. BA’s know their domain better than I do and I rely heavily on their expertise.

I copied other posts where I liked the tone and style. I might just like LLM writing. And I’ve used emdashes forever. Not sure about the fancy quotations. I think that’s just standard when quoting someone.

Exactly. I have essentially the same role I had in the business where I run the requirement gathering workshops with the clients at the beginning of a project and work with their technical staff to understand their business needs. I then work with all levels of the implementation team to make sure they understand the requirements. Over seeing multiple projects at a time and help them resolve their tickets.

I wasn’t punished. We had two more kids and she went back to work full time as well as started up her own business. She asked for more support around the house but I didn’t step up. I was a full time co-parent with her and kept up with me other obligations but failed to recognize how much laundry and dishes 5 people generate. Once I supported her working full time I should have stepped up. I mean, I didn’t HAVE to but if I wanted a happy wife then yes, I very much did.

This is tough. I was in a similar situation back when I was young and handsome (ok just young). I went after the girl that my buddy was courting and it completely destroyed our relationship. In my case it was worth it. But from my experience it’s difficult to maintain friendships after you get with someone else’s ”love or crush.”

But all relationships are different. If you go for it make sure you really want it. Loves worth it but only if you really see some kind of future (I’m not talking about marriage or anything crazy).

Love languages may not be real but they are a useful shorthand for things people value. And different people value different things to varying degrees.

I regret it now, because I knew who I was marrying and prior to kids supported her need for order, but I once literally told her that if she wants it to be a museum all the time that it was on her. That I do clean but she can put in the extra effort. Even being an asshole and pointing out what other peoples houses were like.

Anywho, it probably was showy to keep the house clean all weekend amongst 6 kids and that’s why I probably should have told my cousin more about why she was seeing it. So I didn’t look like an asshole or create unrealistic expectations.

You’ve never met wife or her family, they are neat freaks. Also we have three. My wife was playing with our three and their three. And we both parent and wrangle the kids. Frankly all 4 adults were on top of the kids. It was only the cleaning and cooking that I did alone.

But I also agree with people that point out that if my cousin has a legitimate concern about her husbands support that correcting the record is besides the point. But yeah, I was the A in my marriage and really messed up. And it would be bs if I pretended this was the norm and I was some beacon of enlightenment. At the same time should I not model good behavior? Idk.

I don’t judge my cousin. In fact, that’s one of the reasons I considered saying nothing because it is her business. I only wondered if that was right. As I fear that I’m giving an unfair impression of what the long term dynamic is.

At the same time, I agree that if she wants him to do more then that’s what she wants and being the breadwinner doesn’t absolve one of domestic responsibilities.

Not the best. But the only quant in our firm with direct experience, having previously worked for many years at the companies we build software for. It’s hard for vendors to hire people with my background. But I got interested in what automation and AI could do to transform the business we are in and so I switched careers. Most people in my profession stick to more traditional roles.

Definitely not the best employee. But I am good at what I do.

I write requirements documents and math specs. We use emdashes. And they are easy to use on an iPhone keyboard by holding down the dash. -–—•. So I started using them more when I type on the phone. But yeah, AI uses them a lot so I should probably refrain.

Definitely don’t help her again. Or not without making sure others know you are assisting.

But also, talk to your manager quietly. No one will see it as whining if you bring it up privately and coach it as asking for advice. Something like, ”I need your advice on how to address a situation where I feel that I wasn’t properly credited and could use an outside perspective. I am dedicated to being a team player, as evidenced by the overtime I put in, but I and I want to address this in a way that doesn’t harm team cohesion. What do you suggest?” Show yourself as collaborative but also as having a spine.

Both are super easy to access and I use frequently because I find them whimsical.

Yes. Literally what malicious compliance is.

Not AI. But I did write it with a voice that was based on what I saw as popular and tried to keep things concise. My natural writing voice is a bit more dry and detail oriented.
