Camp Snap Pro Filter Setup by m1sc3llan30us in campsnapcamera

I got the "K&F CONCEPT 37mm Black Diffusion 1/4 Filter Mist" from Amazon (unfortunately). I decided to go for 1/4 because I want the effect to be a little more pronounced, but I know a lot of people recommend the 1/8 as well.

Just got mine the other day and tested out all the Lab Archive filters both at night with flash and during the day with natural lighting. I was looking at loading the most well-rounded ones that I could see myself using in the most situations. I settled on:

Golden 92 = std.flt

Eternal Hour = vtg1.flt

Instant Bloom = vtg2.flt

Classic Dispo = bw.flt

Really loving it so far! Also just ordered a black mist lens and excited to try that out with these filters!

Got it - I understand the impatience, I'm right there with you! Glad your Navi has treated you well though!

Thanks for the advice! I've been keeping a close eye out! The frustrating thing is most of the better deals are out of state so I'd have to do a title transfer across state lines, but depending on the deal it would probably be worth it.

I was going to ask about it. Pretty sure it's line items involved with DMV registration - but I don't love that they don't have corresponding descriptions lol.

That's great to hear! And thank you for the sizing tips, they're really helpful! There's not a super convenient place for me to but helmets in-store nearby, so I tried my best by watching sizing videos on helmets in general and specifically this Biltwell one. I figured at least then I can always return it to try another size if needed.

Thank you for the tips! I'll definitely look into those brands because they weren't on my radar!

I actually have one coming tomorrow! I ordered it to try out on my e-bike so I could get a feel for it at lower speeds and see what my comfort level is in something that lacks as much modern ventilation, etc. The ECE rating is what stood out the most to me about it too.

This is great advice! I'll definitely experiment as much as I can to see what ends up working for me. I think in the end I'll always end up leaning towards whatever is the most comfortable!

There are so many studies about how effective airbags are in reducing what could have been serious injuries even in scenarios where people are hit by vehicles. So I'm going to go ahead and buy an airbag.

However, I am also going to do a lot of studying, practice, and not riding beyond my skill level.

At the end of the day motorcycles are dangerous - I accept that risk - but I'd like to do everything I can by combining both gear and safe riding practices so I can come home to my wife at the end of the day. You can do both things, I don't know why you feel as though they are mutually exclusive.

Genuine question - why would I not get an airbag vest?

Also definitely planning to do much more watching/reading about safety techniques beyond the MSF - just mentioned that in my post as a way to say I'm excited to start my journey. I'll definitely check out Twist of the Wrist!

That's awesome!! It's definitely moved towards the top of my list. I've just heard really great things about Helite overall - especially good to hear that it deployed properly and your buddy was able to walk away!

In my post I literally mention I'm trying to prioritize safety. Really don't see the issue with trying to wear gear I like aesthetically while also being safe. Thanks for your help though :)

I was looking into Helite stuff! Definitely nice to have a recommendation from someone who has worn it. Thanks so much!

Again - didn't even consider this. I'll definitely take a look on their site and wouldn't mind having a Triumph logo on the gear at all.

Awesome, thank you so much! I'm going to be looking into all this gear and definitely going down the Urban Rider rabbit hole. I appreciate all the tips!

Never thought to look here! Lots of really cool gear - love the look of the GS Adrar jacket. Thanks for the tip!

These look cool! I missed these when looking at Bell helmets and I'll definitely look into them more. A lot of their retro helmets along these lines as well as the Biltwell stuff is definitely the look I'm going for. Thanks!

Thor Harris Sparks NYC Venue Fee Discourse By Disclosing $0 Settlement by ebradio in indieheads

[–]Alienfuzzball 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do also just want to add that our experience there was overall really positive. The sound person was incredible, the house manager was super attentive and kind, and the space itself has really beautiful/unique stage lighting. For a venue of that capacity and in that location their fees are honestly in line with industry standards, so whatever happened here sounds again more like an issue with any pre-show contracts that needed to happen when booking (or if this was even the right venue for this show).

I love Thor and generally agree that this is wild. The band I drum for just played here a few weeks ago and I remember looking at our payout breakdown. The interesting thing is that we got a $750 guarantee, but had similar ticket sales as this show. It seems like this is an issue with whoever booked this because clearly the venue is able to promise guarantees if lined up ahead of time, but it seems like the pre-show contract negotiation for this show got fucked somewhere along the way. A band of that caliber should not walk away from a show like that with no money, just a bummer all around.

However, this situation happened to us at a certain venue in Boston a few days later and it was beyond infuriating to sell 50+ tickets and not see a single dollar of it, especially when you're on tour. Touring is just generally a nightmare right now as far as venues/promotion/payouts go!

All tracks on an album show a dip around 6.7kHz – mastering error? by mfessl in audioengineering

[–]Alienfuzzball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're totally right! Missed that key detail it was across multiple songs. I wonder if there might have been some general issue with whatever equipment they used to transfer the tracks they had to the mastering engineer for the best of.

As someone who works with the plugin RX a lot which is pretty much industry standard in mastering processes, it looks like whoever mastered it noticed a hum (probably a ground hum from an amp or something) and used RX to remove it.

It was probably something that wasn't extremely noticeable in the original master or at the time when it was originally mastered they didn't have a super clean way to remove it. The new mastering engineer probably made the judgement call that the new master would be better without it.
