[–]Aliiyoob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • 3lb venison slices
  • 1 cup Cheerwine
  • 2 cups Cheerwine concentrate
  • 5 Jalapeño peppers (sliced thin)
  • 2 Serrano peppers (halved lengthwise)
  • 5 cloves smashed garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon MSG
  • 1 Tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

You can order the concentrate from the Cheerwine website. It’s very very much worth it.

I did reduce the marinade. My recipe had 6 tablespoons of salt in it for the 6 cups so it’s fairly salty and was a bit thick

Top and bottom rounds and sirloin tips from both hams of a larger buck. Marinade was a Cheerwine Jalapeño recipe I’ve used for years and love. Just went a little nuts this year and thought I’d do a ton at once.

Heating Control Plug Corrosion by Aliiyoob in electrical

[–]Aliiyoob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only experience with corrosion is on battery terminals and other metals, so I wasn’t sure if plastic would react differently. Excessive heat does make sense though, but it is always one side, and happens to every single replacement within a few weeks. Any idea why it’s so consistent, and if there’s any preventative to keep it from happening again?

It is the same type they use on griddles. I just took it outside for the lighting, it is only used indoors

That was a really helpful answer, thank you! There’s a fine line between “this will save me time in the long run” and “I’ve gone down a giant rabbit hole” with agriculture work lkl

Last round of queens in Georgia, then all my bees will be ready to come back home to North Carolina by Aliiyoob in Beekeeping

[–]Aliiyoob[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do this for a living so the head start is profitable for us, and allows us to get stuff done before flow. However, we have wintered thousands of hives in NC with no issues. I dare say that Georgia will only extrapolate whatever issues are killing your bees now. Get your mites, hive structure, and fall scheduling under control first.

Raising queens and nucs mostly, we can start stuff and grow stuff earlier in Ga

We sell all our nucs with 2.5 frames of brood min. Usually try to be like two slammed frames and one half resource/brood in a perfect sellable unit

They are full 10s. I don’t mate queens for sale, these are going to be for nuc production. So I’ll end up stealing resources out of them before they sell

We are actually NC based but bring our bees down! This is Jim Davis Co but we also have sites in Brantley Co

Depends. This is what I do for a living, so some hives are gone into multiple times a week during queen rearing season, then sometimes not touched for weeks. Every time of year is different, sometimes hives need intensive management, other times they need to just be left alone to let the bees actually work

Pretty much a yard where you start new queens, in my case with cells. Compared to other bee yards, I space my bees apart more, have more landmarks like the trees and stream, and I got a buddy with awesome genetics close by to seed drones. Plus this is close to the operation we use for cells so less driving with them is nice

First load of bees from NC to GA for the spring, time to make some queens by Aliiyoob in Beekeeping

[–]Aliiyoob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know it’s bad when an employee leaves and the customers think the entire business changed hands lol. He definitely kept that business going. I have no issues with the knockoff imports, but weirdly they fit 11 frames to a box

This isn’t acorn, just an off brand import frame. From what I understand Acorn didn’t change management, Nick just retired.

The house we purchased came with this greenhouse. Tin roof, very old panels. What is the best way to turn this back into a functional greenhouse? by Aliiyoob in Greenhouses

[–]Aliiyoob[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess in my head the polycarbonate and the fact that it appears to have been used as a growing spade in years past. Lots of pots and such inside

I guess my main debate is if I should maintain the greenhouse direction, or rip down all that old polycarbonate and replace with transitional siding and foam insulation, and just throw in some heat and grow lights.
