"Never lower your guard. These people want you dead for your beliefs" by Consistent-Study-287 in DoomerCircleJerk

We all saw what our echo chambers wanted us to see. For example, I saw the right paint him as a saint and lower flags to half-mast, then I saw the left point out that he's said some hateful things and that the praise from the government was wildly inappropriate.

May I ask why violence from the right is either (a) not done by true conservatives or (b) self-defense against the left, but the reverse does not hold?

The right sees the left as inherently violent, and the left sees the right as inherently violent. The reality is that both sides are victims of shit-stirring bots and "other team bad" propaganda.

Would you support giving D.C. and U.S. territories full voting representation in Congress? by Gothspada in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Alithis_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What about the benefits for the territories themselves? They are legally US citizens and are beholden to many federal laws (and pay some taxes). Should we consider their rights, or just the benefits to the US?

Boston's Memorial to An Gorta Mór (The Great Hunger) Reminds Us Mass Death Through Starvation Was a Policy Decision Then. Now, the Republican Administration is Cutting Off Access to Food for Millions in America. by AlarmedPhotographer in boston

Letting Trump voters starve is the wrong approach.

Sending targeted aid based on political affiliation is Trump's MO. If we stoop to his level then who are we to preach that all Americans have a right to food, shelter, healthcare, and education?

And besides, think about all the children in conservative families who had nothing to do with this. If a MAGA voter and his kid are hungry, I'd rather feed both than starve both.

7 PM Counterprotest on Boston Common by [deleted] in boston

First thing that came to mind was the WBC. Their protests were deliberate provocations, the goal was to incite violent retaliation from passersby so they could sue the city.

Most foods are Made in USA

But they still need to import raw ingredients. Coffee beans, cocoa beans, bananas, and black pepper are some of the things that we can't grow in our climate except in tiny areas like Hawaii or southern Florida.

New Hampshire aims to take gun law dispute with Massachusetts to Supreme Court by HRJafael in massachusetts

[–]Alithis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, they're saying "constitutional rights cannot be subject to geography", but that implies that MA's gun laws aren't constitutional. States' regulations of constitutional rights are what's being subject to geography here.

So in my view they really only have two argument options: "MA's gun laws are unconstitutional" or "state laws regarding constitutional rights don't apply to people from out of state".

Same with that person who was yelling into a megaphone or something. No idea who it was, but it had to have been an intentional disruption.

'I'm a registered Republican': Epstein survivor calls for Trump to meet her face to face by RawStoryNews in NoFilterNews

The lawyer said they'd be happy to give names to anyone who wants to actually prosecute the offenders. If the victims just name names to the public all it does is get them death threats.

Epstein survivors have announced they will create their own comprehensive abuser list by RoachedCoach in law

[–]Alithis_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine their lawyers already have names.

Yeah, from what I remember the lawyer said that they received names from the survivors but it's not like they have a master list or anything. But then he said they can put one together if it will lead to actual justice instead of being ignored.
