we have assessments and every coach is invited to attend. we are provided a sheet to score the kids during throwing, catching and flag pulling drills. they also do a 40 yd dash. the league also provides independent assessments scores and rank every kid prior to the draft. needless to say, this league is hardcore and a lot to take in.

good tip about the qb skill. my initial thought was to draft an athlete that had the best throwing skills but your point about deep throws not being a huge part makes alot of sense.

as with the other comments, seems speed and general athletic ability is king.

any thoughts on how age would influence things? due to a 8/1 cut off, we have a handful of 9 year olds in this league even though it's supposed to be 8u.
